Sofia Vergara just broke her silence after Forbes named her as the highest-paid actress in Hollywood for seven consecutive years.

During an interview with Vulture, the Latina actress made sure to show off her comical side while talking about her successful acting career, as well as her lucrative business.

According to the Modern Family alum, she’s proud to be named as the highest-paid actress of her generation. However, Vergara also thinks that the title is quite an exaggeration.

“I feel like it’s a bit of an exaggeration though — don’t forget that I have to pay horrific taxes too. When everyone is like, ‘Oh, my God, you have so much money,’ I always say, ‘No, I don’t have as much as you think I have. I have to pay Uncle Sam! And managers! And lawyers! And agents!” she said.

But while Vergara earned a huge salary from her stint in Modern Family especially in the last few seasons, the publication revealed that a huge chunk of her income comes from her businesses and brand deals.

Vergara has secured deals with several brands like Diet Pepsi, CoverGirl, Rooms to Go, State Farm Insurance, and the thyroid medicine Synthroid.

“I’ve made a lot with endorsements and being a spokesperson. That has given me a lot of money – and I’ve done a lot of them,” she said.

Despite her success, Vergara admitted that it was never her goal to become an international superstar. After all, her main focus was simply to give her son, Manolo a good life.

“I needed independence. I don’t believe that money is 100% what is going to give you happiness, but I think it takes away a lot of the pressure and stress where you can focus on other things. When you’re worried about how you’re going to pay the rent, I don’t think that you can be worry-free, and I always wanted that for myself,” she said.

Amid the pandemic, Vergara has also stepped up to help those who lost their jobs. She recently teamed up with the micro-lending platform, Kiva. This partnership has helped the company raise more than $150 million from its initial goal of $50 million.

Vergara’s fans will be delighted to know that she will officially return to television on June 1 when the new season of America’s Got Talent premieres. The actress also happens to be the fourth highest-paid judge on the show with her $10 million paycheck per season.
