Shannen Doherty has been struggling with a series of issues as of late, one of which has been her ailing health, which she has been very forthcoming about in her interactions on social media and with the press. The other has been an intense and very lengthy battle with insurance company All State Insurance over damage sustained to her home following the devastating California fires. In the matter of the legal suit, she has just been awarded a victory, with All State being forced to fork over $6.3 million in the form of a settlement that covers damages, as well as stated grievances and legal fees. However, Variety indicates that they will be appealing the verdict, so this may not be truly over in every sense.

Shannen Doherty has struggled with her relationship with State Farm Insurance for several years. In February of 2019, she finally got fed up and filed a $1.4 million lawsuit against them, alleging that they had failed to properly compensate her for damages sustained to her home by the Woolsey fires.

That's a far cry from the $6.3 million settlement that the court just ruled in Doherty's favor. This is how the story unfolded.

The Woolsey Fires began burning in 2018. Doherty alleged that her home was severely damaged as they burned. After supposed communication with All State that she didn't find to be agreeable, Doherty filed a $1.4 million lawsuit against them. Then, on November 11th of 2019, she posted a message on Instagram which clearly stated, "Our house is fine... contrary to news reports."

Curiously, her lawsuit indicated that her home and surrounding residences were 'severely damaged by smoke and fire'.

Papers filed later revealed that Doherty was claiming she could not live in the home due to" exposure to smoke, smoke-damaged property and other airborne toxins resulting from the Woolsey Fire," and she went on to state that she was forced to pay out of pocket for her living expenses, all while suffering from stage 4 cancer.

The courts seemed to find enough evidence to hold All State legally liable to pay for Doherty's claim, which by this point includes a significant amount of money going towards damages of the actual property, in addition to Doherty's emotional distress, and a whole lot of legal fees.

All State has responded to the court's ruling by respectfully disagreeing, and indicating that they will be quick to file an appeal. The massive insurance company believes Doherty is exaggerating the claim, "to garner sympathy by her contention that State Farm must rebuild her entire house because she has breast cancer and COPD," as reported by USA Today, and has gone on to say, "We empathize with Ms. Doherty's health and wish her the best. We are disappointed by the jury's decision and respectfully disagree with it. We will explore all available legal options, including appealing the verdict."

While she can certainly lay claims to the win right now, it seems this celebration may be short-lived, as this dramatic lawsuit doesn't seem to be over quite yet.
