Many celebrities have a story to tell prior to becoming rich and famous. They worked minimum wage jobs, volunteered as extras in a movie, and served at a restaurant before getting their big break. For some, whether they were in the right place at the right time or they happened to make a splash in their first gig, stardom came easily and unexpectedly. These celebs seemingly became famous overnight.

Emma Watson

She’s loved the stage since a young age, even enrolling at the Stagecoach Theatre Arts at the age of 10. With experience in acting and dancing at school and with a stagecoach, Watson landed her first major role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise and effectively made her a star overnight. The first Harry Potter film broke records for opening day at the box office and was the highest-grossing movie of 2001. Since then, she’s starred in Disney’s reimagined version of Beauty and the Beast, Little Women, and The Circle. Her sense of fashion has been a source of fan interest as well, and her modeling work for Burberry and Lancôme hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Though it seems like DiCaprio has been a well-known face forever, the truth is, it wasn’t until his starring role in 1997’s Titanic that many people began to recognize his talent. DiCaprio had a supporting role in television “Growing Pains,” and he did land a role in a low-budget horror movie, Critters 3. According to Fame 10, Titanic is the record-breaking film that put Leo on the map. As one of the highest-paid actors today, we’ve watched him star in films like Catch Me if You Can, Gangs of New York, and The Wolf of Wall Street, and earn five Academy Award nominations. He hasn’t let all that fame go to his head. DiCaprio is a vocal supporter of environmental issues and frequently takes the headline for donations for good causes.

Miley Cyrus

Throughout her childhood, the young girl of a famous dad had a few small roles, but her status went through the roof when the Disney show “Hannah Montana” hit the scene. Within 12 months of starring as Montana, Cyrus released a triple album platinum debut album, and the rest is history. She has since released several studio albums, both under Hannah Montana’s name and her own. She’s also appeared in several films, including The Last Song, lent her voice to Disney’s film Bolt, and has collaborated with many other famous artists.

Justin Bieber

Another superstar on the list and fans struggle to imagine the time when he wasn’t a part of their lives, but if you recall, Bieber became famous through a YouTube video. That’s right, according to Capital FM, Bieber began posting videos of his performances on his YouTube channel until producer Scooter Braun picked him up, and at 15-years-old, he became the biggest star on the planet. In the past ten years, Bieber has released several more record-breaking albums, married Hailey Baldwin, and continues to top the charts with both Billboard and die-hard fans.

Uzo Aduba

We know her as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren from “Orange is the New Black.” While Aduba has been in numerous theater productions and even won a Helen Hayes Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Play, it wasn’t until “Crazy Eyes” came along that many fans began to take notice. According to Huffington Post, Aduba took home an Emmy in both Drama and Comedy categories for playing the same character, a feat only done once before by Ed Asner. Today, Aduba is starring in the HBO series “In Treatment” and has already earned a nomination for her role as Dr. Brooke Taylor. She’s celebrating her marriage to filmmaker Robert Sweeting and continues to grow as an actress and performer.

Millie Bobby Brown

It seems as though the actress was loved by Hollywood from the first day she stepped foot in it. Scouting agents told Brown’s parents she could make it in Hollywood, so the family packed up and moved from Orlando to Los Angeles, and within a week, Brown was cast in her first drama series, “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland.” Though agents, scouts, and directors could immediately see they had something special, it wasn’t until Brown starred in the cult classic "Stranger Things" that audiences began to pay attention. She has been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and won the 43rd Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor in Television. With the sudden stardom, Brown landed commercial endorsements, modeling, and additional feature film debut in Godzilla: King of the Monsters. She also starred in critically acclaimed “Enola Holmes.”
