Mike Tyson is facing serious allegations of sexual assault in a new $5 million lawsuit that was launched against him on January 5th.

An affidavit was filed by an anonymous woman in New York’s Albany County Court. The woman alleges that she met the professional boxer at a dance club in New York In the early 1990s.

My friend and I were hanging out with him and his limousine driver,” she states in the court documents. “Tyson told us about a party and asked us to join him. My friend was going to drop off her car, and Tyson said he would pick her up in the limousine."

However, after joining Mike in his car, the woman says he proceeded to assault her.

"I told him no several times and asked him to stop, but he continued to attack me. He then pulled my pants off and violently raped me," she continued.

The woman was able to sue on the grounds of New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which came into effect last year and gives survivors of assault a year’s time to sue their abusers.

This isn’t the first time Mike has been accused of sexual assault. He served three years in prison after he was found guilty of raping a woman in 1992. The former athlete hasn’t responded to the most recent lawsuit.

Unfortunately, Mike Tyson is the only celebrity to recently be hit with a sex abuse lawsuit. In December, a woman named Shannon Ruth filed a lawsuit against Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter.

Shannon alleges the musician assaulted her in 2001 when she was 17 years old. She claims Nick invited her onto his tour bus, then proceeded to give her a spike drink to sexually assault her.

Nick released a statement via his attorney, denying the woman’s allegations.

"Unfortunately, for several years now, Ms. Ruth has been manipulated into making false allegations about Nick — and those allegations have changed repeatedly and materially over time,” the statement read.

However, the lawsuit has already had an impact on Nick’s career. ABC promptly cancelled the Backstreet Boys Christmas special after the lawsuit came to light. The case against Nick Carter remains ongoing.

Mike Tyson’s lawsuit may be more recent, but it also stands to tarnish his career, though only time will tell how it plays out.
