In case you didn't know, Kim Kardashian is a huge Janet Jackson fan. To commemorate the singer’s 55th birthday, Kardashian purchased the music icon’s costume from her “If” music video from years ago for $25,000.
The music video was released in 1993, and Kardashian shared a glimpse of the ensemble while wearing it via her Instagram Story.
“Happy birthday queen! For @janetjackson's bday bc I'm such a fan I can't believe I won this on juliens_auctions,” Kardashian captioned her post.
Jackson immediately replied to the reality TV star by thanking her for her purchase.
“Thank u so much @kimkardashian! I hope 'IF' gives u as much pleasure as it did me,” Jackson wrote.
According to People, a three-day auction was held to commemorate Jackson’s 55th birthday.
Prior to the auction, Jackson shared that she’s having mixed feelings over the sales because it will be the last time that she will see some of the things that have been with her for decades.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Compassion International, a non-profit organization that provides humanitarian aid to children in need.
“A portion of the proceeds from the auction will benefit Compassion International, a global child-advocacy ministry that partners with churches around the world to release children from spiritual, economic, social, and physical poverty. Over 1,000 illustrious items owned by one of the world's most celebrated and accomplished creative forces will be presented by Julien's Auctions in this one-time-only special event,” a press release stated.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time that Kardashian purchased memorabilia that belonged to the Jackson clan.
In 2017, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star purchased a jacket worn by Michael Jackson once for her daughter, North West. She also bought the fedora that the late singer wore in the 1998 music video for “Smooth Criminal.”
Kardashian also made headlines recently amid claims that she and her ex-husband, Kanye West are not having any issues with their divorce proceedings. After all, the billionaires have no intention of milking each other for their own monetary gain.
West and Kardashian have also agreed to have joint custody of their four children. And the rapper doesn’t have any plan to seek spousal support from his ex-wife.
Kardashian and West tied the knot in 2014. Last year, rumors swirled that they are divorcing after the rapper went a Twitter tired against the reality TV star, Kris Jenner, and their other family members.
