Just about 40 minutes outside the Big Apple sits a quiet little waterfront town called Rye. While many may know the suburb for its ranking as USA Today's 30th Wealthiest Town in America, Rye made headlines as now 21-time Grammy Award-winning mogul, Kanye West, plans to put up some major cash in efforts to change the town's name to his own. He's willing to deal out $10,000,000 - 10% of his net worth - on having the town remove the "R" in its name to better resemble, and permanently remaining as "Ye".   While many believed it was all a rumor, the prospects of the name change are becoming more and more likely.

Jaded by the glitz of Hollywood and coming off the heartbreak of divorce, the platinum-selling artist looks to Rye for solitude.

"He [West]wants to live somewhere that people don’t care about material goods," an anonymous yet trusted source tells Rye Records, "And Rye is the low-key, down-to-earth place where he feels comfortable right now.”

Along with comfort, of course, comes the prospects of business ventures. The local news junket notes West's recent property scouting - showing interest in areas like Manursing Way, Forest Avenue, and Boston Post Road. With only one prospective property being residential, the other two buildings are said to be a music studio and church for his Sunday Services.

As of now, a petition for the name change has been signed by 645 people and is ongoing. Many are ecstatic, not only for West to grace the city, but for the hopes that his hefty cash drop will clear the city and schools debts. Though reports show that Rye is doing fine all on its own, with bankruptcies at their lowest rate in the town history since 1986.

"At the end of the day, money speaks! Paying down the debt of the city is like paying each [taxpayer]," Georges Benoliel, founder of New York real estate and broking firm Nestapp tells the Baltimore Sun. Benoliel goes on to endure that if West and his team can get through the paperwork, a name change is actually quite probable.

This truly unpredictable instance shows the sheer power that wealth holds. As the petition continues filling to the brim with signatures and West finds his perfect locations, we might just see "Ye" becoming the next big-time city to visit.
