It’s been a year since Johnny Depp won his defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard. Not only is the actor’s career on the up since the controversy, but it appears to be better than ever, as he’s set a world record with his new deal.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star has signed a $20 million fragrance contract with Dior, which continues their years-long partnership. Johnny has been working with the fashion house for nearly a decade, after first signing in 2015. Until now, he’s been the face of Dior Sauvage.

Dior continued to work with the actor in the wake of numerous allegations and legal troubles throughout the years, many related to his tumultuous marriage to Amber Heard.

Interestingly, Dior may have found it lucrative to continue its partnership, as its sales when up as fans apparently wanted to show support for Johnny during the court case. "In fact, sales are up and Dior has no plans to quit. Many fans are going out to buy the new cologne to show their support," source told The Mai in 2022.

Now, Johnny and Dior are literally making history with their new partnership. It’s reportedly the most expensive men’s fragrance contract to date. The record was previously held by Dior’s $12 million deal with Robert Pattinson.

Variety notes that Johnny’s perfume deal is exceptionally higher than the usual celebrity collaboration. Most fragrance deals only pull in between $2 million to $4 million annually, the publication explains.

The new perfume collaboration isn’t the only project Johnny has been working on. The actor is gearing up to debut his new film Jeanne du Barry at the Cannes Film Festival.

“The life of Jeanne Bécu who was born as the illegitimate daughter of an impoverished seamstress in 1743 and went on to rise through the Court of Louis XV to become his last official mistress,” IMDB says of the film, which had an estimated budget of $22 million.

During the legal troubles involving his ex-wife, Johnny reportedly missed out on millions, including a $22.5 million opportunity to reprise his role as Jack Sparrow in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Luckily for Johnny, the opportunities (and money) seem to be in abundance nowadays.
