She may not be as popular as Alanis Morissette or as praised as the Bajan princess Rihanna, but this London-born singer-songwriter has amassed a healthy net worth for herself minus the excitement and fanfare that follows most music artists. Florence Welch's style and genre of music can't be pinpointed as she loves to blend genres, similar to others like Amy Winehouse, Adele, and Lily Allen. Her basic genre blends are pop, soul, and Baroque symphonies which have produced a sound that is uniquely her own. She has produced songs as a solo artist but is best known worldwide as the lead singer of her band Florence and The Machine. Although she is little known on the mainstream American market, she has managed to amass a net worth of $28 million and has even featured on one of Lady Gaga's albums. Let's find out how the eclectic Florence Welch grew her $28 million.

Chasing Her Musical Dream

Welch's interest in singing and music, in general, began where almost all other artistic endeavors begin - in childhood. Born Florence Leontine Mary Welch in 1986 in Camberwell, London, England, she describes herself as being a "highly imaginative and fearful child." Cheered on by her grandmother, Cybil Welch, Florence began to pursue her love for singing and the performing arts. Despite being naturally academically inclined, she was eventually dropped out of the Camberwell College of Arts to focus on her music, which proved to be a successful pursuit given her musical accomplishments.

Even the most popular bands from the United Kingdom, like The Beatles, were off to a rough start before becoming one of the most internationally recognized boy bands in history, and Welch would also have to start small. She began to play at local London venues around the year 2006 with her friend Isabella Summers under the combined name Florence Robot/Isa Machine. Their venues began to make some traction, but it wasn't as dramatic as The Rolling Stones rock band's global takeover.

The attention led to the 2007 release of an album called Plans that she recorded with the band named Ashok. By 2008, she released her debut singles from the album, such as Kiss With A Fist, which at the time was titled Happy Slap, as well as Dog Days Are Over. Then in 2009, she released her debut album with FATM titled Lungs, which peaked at No.1 on the UK album charts. The album went on to win numerous awards in the UK, including two Brit Awards and a GLAMOUR Woman Of The Year Award for best band, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Going International

It was only a matter of time before Welch's resounding style and symphonies would make their way across to the American market, especially with rising pop artists like Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, and Justin Bieber who were popularizing the dance pop and electro-pop genres at the time. In 2010, she went on to release seven singles from her debut album, Lungs, and was also in the process of writing her new album, F+M, when an offer was made by her label to go to Los Angeles and collaborate with American Pop music writers and producers. One of her biggest breakthroughs came in 2011 when she replaced the English singer and songwriter, Dido, by singing her portion as a nominee for Best Original Song for If I Rise from the James Franco movie survival drama film, 127 Hours. Around the same time, it was reported that she was also working on Fatboy Slim's album, Here Lies Love, as well as with YOLO rapper Drake on his upcoming album.

Her success continued with the 2011 release of her second album from Florence + The Machine, Ceremonials, which debuted at No. 1 on the UK Albums chart and No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Then in 2012, a remix was done to the song Spectrum, which belonged to one of the world's richest London DJs, Calvin Harris. The song was released as the fourth single from the album and quickly rose to No. 1 on the UK singles chart, making it her first chart-topping single in the UK. Her second chart-topping single came on another one of Calvin Harris's songs Sweet Nothing. In addition, the song was also certified Platinum in Australia, where it made it to No. 2 on the charts as well as in New Zealand. Welch and her band now seemed to be climbing the ranks on both the UK, American, and Australian pop music entertainment scene. Their future was looking bright!

Her Non-Stop Success

Success seemed to bear a mark on the London singer, as she only progressed further with her third album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, which was released in 2015. The album reached No. 1 in multiple markets, namely the US, UK., Canada, and Australia. In the same year, Welch also grabbed an opportunity at the expense of another artist, this time, Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, who broke his leg and ultimately forfeited his band's headlining performance at the Glastonbury. As a result, Florence and The Machine headlined the performance which gave her much-needed exposure. The following year in 2016, she would record a song together with the hyper-expressive singer Lady Gaga on the latter's fifth album, Hey Girl.

In 2017, she appeared in a 2017 romantic drama film directed by Terrance Malick called Song to Song, featuring Ryan Gosling, Cate Blanchett, and Christian Bale. Later the same year, she was tasked with adding a song titled To Be Human to the Wonder Woman movie soundtrack, starring Gal Gadot. In 2018, the band released the single "Hunger" from their fourth studio album titled High As Hope, and later that summer she performed on stage with Mick Jagger at the London Stadium. Despite her success, Welch shows no signs of stopping as a music artist and an actress.
