Celebrities also have personal problems, and some of them manage to overcome them and strive

Mental health problems have been actively discussed lately. More and more people, including famous ones, speak out about their traumatic experiences and battles. Yet, despite having them, many celebrities continue struggling, giving hope to their fans. Here's the list of some celebrities who do their best to live their lives no matter what.

Bella Hadid

This autumn, the famous model opened up on Instagram about her mental health condition, which isn't perfect at all. Even though her Instagram looks ideal, with the professional photoshoots and catwalks, she wrote, "Social media is not real. For anyone struggling, please remember that." Hadid shared a carousel featuring Willow Smith talking about anxiety in her post. She addressed to Smith, "I love you and your words. It made me feel a little less alone and that's why I'd like to post this." In 2012, Hadid was diagnosed with Lyme disease, and she admits she must fight it for years, posting a photo with an IV in her arm. Despite all the struggles she faces, Hadid continues inspiring her fans. For example, she has recently returned to Victoria's Secret, and she actively posts on social media.

Demi Lovato

The star struggled with mental health issues from the very childhood. They suffered from depression and had suicidal thoughts at the age of seven, and throughout their life, they had problems with bulimia, cutting, and drug addiction. In 2011, they were diagnosed with bipolar disorder; in 2018, they had an almost fatal drug overdose. Yet, Lovato managed to overcome their problems and keep going. They released a single called "OK Not To Be OK" with DJ Marshmello to destigmatize mental illness. The single "Sober" is about their relapsing in 2018. On World Suicide Prevention Day, September 2020, they tweeted their story of mental illness, adding that "it is possible to see the light when you start the work on yourself." Today, Lovato continues to music and share their lives on social media.

Naomi Osaka

The tennis star made a furor when she dropped out of the French Open two months before. She was even fined for $15,000. Osaka wrote an essay to Time about feeling pressure to disclose her condition at that time and fear of not being accepted. She's convinced that every athlete deserves "the right to take a mental break from media scrutiny on a rare occasion without being subject to strict sanctions." She doesn't like the idea of exposing such personal information, writing that "in any other line of work, you would be forgiven for taking a personal day here and there, so long as it's not habitual. You wouldn't have to divulge your most personal symptoms to your employer; there would likely be HR measures protecting at least some level of privacy." Yet, she's ready to continue doing sport - she'll be participating in Australia Open in January.

Kid Cudi

In 2020 the rapper released a music album, Man On The Moon III, where he shared his internal struggles. The same year, he posted on Instagram a message about his mental state, writing, “God has better days waitin for me. I just know it.” Nevertheless, his music literally saves lives; the SNL comic, Pete Davidson, diagnosed with borderline personality disorder in 2017, stated that Kid Cudi's music was extremely helpful. "I truly believe if 'Man on the Moon' didn’t come out, I wouldn't be here," he told The Breakfast Club. Kid Cudi is planning to release two albums this Summer.

Selena Gomez

The famous singer never hid her depression in the past, but in 2020 she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. "Recently, I went to one of the best mental hospitals in the world … And I discussed that after years of going through a lot of different things I realized that I was bipolar," she revealed on Bright Minded: Live With Miley. Yet, the star was diagnosed earlier with lupus, which affected her mental health; she faced anxiety and panic attacks. On top of that, being in the public eye from her childhood left a mark on her health. Because of that, she had to stop using social media. "My lupus, my kidney transplant, chemotherapy, having a mental illness, going through very public heartbreaks — these were all things that honestly should have taken me down," she said to Elle. However, Gomez continues working despite struggling with many issues; she owns a cosmetic brand, Rare Beauty, promoting mental health and self-care.

Billie Eilish

The youth lover has several health problems she's fighting with. These are Tourette syndrome, body dysmorphic disorder, and depression. "I just hated my body. I would have done anything to be in a different one," she said to Vogue. The singer shared her experience of her quick development, which made her feel extremely uncomfortable. As for her depression, she said to Rolling Stone that singing about it can make teens feel better, knowing that they are not alone in this. "I genuinely didn't think I would make it to 17," said Eilish during "The Gayle King Grammy Special" last year, but today, she still continues to be a prominent and inspirational figure.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga is known not only for her unique style and beautiful voice but also for being open about her problems and being supportive towards her fans. On Oprah’s 2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus tour, she talked about her mental health problems connected with chronic pain caused by fibromyalgia. The star struggles with PTSD and mental health issues. Apart from that, Gaga shared her experience with sexual assault and the lack of professional help to deal with the trauma.

“I all of a sudden became a star and was traveling the world going from hotel room to garage to limo to stage, and I never dealt with it, and then all of a sudden I started to experience this incredible intense pain throughout my entire body that mimicked the illness I felt after I was raped,” she said. Lady Gaga doesn't hide using a medication, which is immensely helpful.

She's speaking openly about her experience to reduce the stigma related to treating mental illness, as she wants to support those who have mental health issues. "Medicine really helped me. A lot of people are afraid of medicine for their brains to help them. I really want to erase the stigma around this," she said. Despite having health problems, Lady Gaga continues delighting her fans with her creative work. This autumn, House of Gucci biographical crime drama was released, where Gaga starred with Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek, and Al Pacino.

Lil Nas

Lil Nas is an active social media user. He shared on TikTok his struggles with depression, suicidal thoughts, and hypochondria. The rapper had tough times when he was dropped out of college, kicked out of his sister's house, and moved in with his brother witnessing domestic violence. Yet, music helps him to overcome his problems. This year, Lil Nas got the inaugural Suicide Prevention Advocate of the Year Award from The Trevor Project, a nonprofit organization that serves LGBTQ youth in crisis. "If using my voice and expressing myself in my music can help even one kid out there who feels alone, then it was all worth it," said the rapper about supporting his fans.

The fact that mental health's becoming less taboo is definitely helpful. In this way, they show an excellent example of how challenging life can be and how important it is to take care of yourself.
