Worthington has found his niche in action and crime thrillers but in 2010, he tried a different type of role as Michael Reed, opposite Keira Knightley and Eva Mendes. It’s the story of a married couple spending one night apart and their temptations either resisted or not. Unfortunately, the film was not successful at the box office, but Worthington makes up for it as his career develops.

The Great Raid – $10 Million

At the beginning of his career, Worthington enjoyed supporting roles like the one of Pfc. Lucas in the WWII piece in which 500 American Soldiers have been entrapped in a POW camp for three years. In leading roles, stars like Benjamin Bratt, Joseph Fiennes and James Franco lead the charge on a dangers mission to save them.

Sabotage – $10.5 Million

In one of his first of many action films, Worthington plays James “Monster” Murray as a member of an elite DEA task force being taken down one by one after they rob a drug cartel safe house. Though the film boasts lead actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, box office numbers weren’t as successful as one might hope.

Hart’s War – $19 Million

At the start of his career, Worthington took several supporting roles like Cpl. B.J. “Depot” Guidry in “Hart’s War”. Any role is worth sharing the screen with Bruce Willis, Colin Farrell, Terrance Howard and others, helping put Worthington’s work and recognition on the map.

Man on a Ledge – $18 Million

As Nick Cassidy, Worthington plays a police psychologist working to talk down an ex-con who is threatening to jump from the ledge of a Manhattan hotel. While the con has the police distracted, one of the biggest diamond heists ever committed is underway.

The Debt – $31 Million

A-list actress Helen Mirren stars as a Mossad Agent in East Berlin, with the goal of apprehending a notorious Nazi war criminal. Worthington plays the young David Peretz in flash back scenes opposite older David Peretz played by Ciaran Hinds.

Everest – $43 Million

In a supporting role, Worthington plays Guy Cotter opposite Jason Clarke as the lead, Robert Edwin Hall. “Everest” is the story of a New Zealand native who joins a team to climb Mount Everest on an expedition of a lifetime.

The Shack – $57 Million

Worthington plays the lead role of Mack Philips in the 2017 drama. Grieving after the loss of his young daughter, the story follows Philips mysterious invitation to meet with God. Worthington plays opposite Octavia Spencer, Tim McGraw and Radha Mitchell.

Hacksaw Ridge – $67 Million

In a biographical drama directed by Mel Gibson, Worthington takes the role as Captain Glover. He’s in a supporting role as lead, Andrew Garfield plays World War II American Army Medic Desmond T. Doss. According to IMDb, Doss refused to kill anyone and was the first man in American history to receive a Medal of Honor without firing a shot.

Wrath of the Titans – $83 Million

In his second turn as Perseus, Worthington goes to the underworld to again, fight Hades and rescue his father, Zeus. The action/adventure film follows the release of Titans upon the world and Perseus’ actions to save it.

Terminator Salvation – $125 Million

In 2009, another Terminator film in the franchise hit the theaters with great success. In the role of Marcus Wright, Worthington helps fight against a resistance attack on Skynet along with a half-human and half-machine.

Clash of the Titans – $163 Million

Worthington plays son of Zeus, Perseus as he battles Hades and the Underworld to stop them from conquering Earth. The star-studded cast included Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes and Jason Flemyng.

Avatar – $760.5 Million

The sci-fi film featured Worthington as, Jake Sully, a paraplegic Marine sent to the moon Pandora on a mission that leaves him torn between following orders and protecting his home. According to MSN, when the 2019 film “Avengers: Endgame” hit theaters, it bumped “Avatar” to second place as highest grossing film of all time. However, when China 20th Century Studios re-released the film to theater audiences, “Avatar” reclaimed its spot as number one.
