Legendary Grammy Award winner, arranger and music producer Phil Ramone is no more. He is dead from a heart failure. Phil had undergone a surgery for his heart condition, and according to doctors, his body was not strong enough to take it. The actual cause of his death is however pneumonia. He had this condition after the surgery was carried out in New York. Phil Ramone has produced music for artists like Billy Joel and Ray Charles. He was one of the most legendary faces in music.
The world of music has lost a great personality. In his music career, Phil has won as many as fourteen Grammy Awards. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award as well. He has sold hundred billion worth of records, a figure that remains unmatched. This fact alone tells us just how talented this man was.
Phil Ramone has worked with famous musicians like Paul McCartney, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra and Stevie Wonder. He was a man of an amiable disposition, and was thus liked by all. In fact, there was hardly anybody in the American music industry who did not get along well with Phil. Ramone was however known to be a hard task master. He did everything in his powers to make sure that the music he was producing was perfect. He never compromised on the quality of it, even when he was working with some of the biggest names.
Phil Ramone produced Bob Dylan’s “Blood on the Tracks” album during the 1960’s. It turned out to be one of the biggest hits ever. This made Phil one of the most successful producers in American music history.
Billy Joel was shocked with the news of Phil’s death. He says that he has lost a friend and a mentor. Billy feels that Phil was among the nicest people he ever knew, and goes on to add that the man was amazingly talented.
Ramone was 79 years of age at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife and children. The man had an uncanny penchant for music duets. He paired Sinatra and Bono of U2 to create some musical magic.
