Jane Henson, Jim Henson’s partner in both the Muppets and his wife is dead after a long battle with cancer. She was 78 years of age. Jane is certainly going to be missed by everybody in the American entertainment industry. Jane Henson and Jim Henson had met at puppetry class at the University of Maryland in the 1950s. They fell in love and decided that they were going to be puppeteers.
Both Jane and Jim Henson were instrumental in the creation of the much loved television series known as “The Muppets”. This was one of the longest running shows on American television. It was a great hit with kids of not just one generation, but several. Muppets was a landmark show. Parents were able to keep the kids thoroughly entertained.
The Henson’s got married in 1959 and had five children. After enjoying a relatively solid marriage, the two decided to separate in 1986. Shortly after, in 1990, Jim Henson passed away. His legacy was carried on by his wife who set up a trust fund – the “Jim Henson Legacy” to preserve all the artistic contributions made in Jim’s lifetime. It was indeed very touching.
Jim Henson and his wife Jane had managed to bring about a revolution in the world of television. Unlike most others in their generation, who focused on adult entertainment, the two had a genuine fondness for kids. This is what made them come up with The Muppets.
Jim and Jane enjoyed their puppetry classes at the University of Maryland, and realized that this was something they wanted to do for a living. But the show and its characters like “Kermit the Frog” managed to woo the young American audience gradually, and it soon became one of the most watched shows on television.
The Jenson’s was a humorous couple. They lived their lives by making people happy. The two of them are going to be immensely missed by their fans.
