The 20 Most Shocking Drunk Celeb Photos

Though the celebrity lifestyle looks like glitz and glamour all the time, fans and critics have to understand the human factor of these stars. They are people, just like us, with struggles and problems. These problems are only heightened when you give someone a silver spoon in their mouth. Imagine being recognized by everyone you passed on the street for your entire life, having your picture taken by hundreds of people a day. There’s only so much that a person can take before finding some way to escape that.

As many people do, some celebrities take to drugs and alcohol to escape. And it’s no wonder, then, that many of these stars overindulge, time and time again. We’ve all been there. Alcohol is a duality in that sense – when you’re happy, you drink to celebrate; when you’re sad, you drink to forget.

No matter what circumstance led a certain celebrity to get plastered, they all usually end up the same way: with an embarrassing photo at the night’s end of a long bender. Here are 20 of the most shocking drunk photos of celebrities.

20. Michelle Rodriguez

Actress Michelle Rodriguez paved her career playing the tough girl, as shown in her breakout role as a boxer in Girlfight, S.W.A.T., the Fast and Furious franchise, and parodies like Machete. She’s one of this generation’s most iconic action film actresses, with her films having accumulated a whopping global gross of $5.2 billion.

The 5’5” beauty also doesn’t shy away from the camera, as showcased in the picture above. Rodriguez was spotted at a 2014 Knicks-Pacers basketball game getting a little fast and furious with model Cara Delevingne, where they were spotted drinking, making out, and altogether stealing the spotlight from the game itself.

19. Kevin Spacey

Kevin Spacey is one of the most respected and well-liked actors in the business. He won two Academy Awards for his roles in The Usual Suspects as well as in American Beauty. He’s won numerous Emmy and Golden Globe Awards, such as his most recent role in the Netflix smash House of Cards.

Still, the master actor is all but human. In the picture above, he’s shown smoking a cigarette while on the phone, face red and eyes half opened. But even so, the actor manages to pull off the drunk look just fine, looking a little worse for wear, rather than falling all over himself like some other celebs who can’t handle their booze.

18. Christina Ricci

Christina Ricci gained fame as a child star, playing Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family and its sequel when she was 11 and 13 years old. She became a teen icon through the mid-90s, and then went back to darker material with Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow and the 2003 drama, Monster.

In 2006, Ricci was nominated for an Emmy for her role as a paramedic in the ABC drama Grey’s Anatomy. Though her acting career has been waning as of late, she still gets attention from the paparazzi. In this picture, we see a barely coherent Ricci attending the Jean-Charles de Castelbajac Ready to Wear after party. She arrived with none other than her perpetual mess of a friend, Lindsay Lohan.

17. Helen Flanagan

via mirror.co.uk

English actress and model Helen Flanagan is best known for playing Rosie Webster in the ITV soap opera, Coronation Street, a role she played for 13 whole years, from 2000 to 2012. In FHM’s 2013 “100 Sexiest Women in the World” poll, she was voted the most attractive British candidate.

It’s hard to disagree with the poll, as we see Flanagan here, after a long day of filming in Liverpool, followed by some pub-hopping, taking a tumble and opting to crawl her way out. Even as sauced as she is, with her pearly white smile and pink outfit, she still manages to look pretty hot.

16. Jennifer Lawrence

25-year-old Jennifer Lawrence is probably the most popular actress of the past five years, and certainly one of the biggest box office draws. Her first commercial success came when she played Mystique in X-Men: First Class. She gained international acclaim for playing Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games franchise, making her the highest-grossing action heroine as of 2015.

Lawrence is well-known for being down-to-earth and carefree. In her interviews, she’s witty, easy to talk to, and seems like she doesn’t care what anyone else thinks. That is very evident in the picture above, where she gave a drunken speech at none other than the Winners Room at the Academy Awards, and even flipped the bird.

15. Avril Lavigne

via betcheslovethis.com

via betcheslovethis.com

Punk-pop rocker Avril Lavigne was one of the biggest musicians come the turn of the century. At 15, she had appeared onstage with Shania Twain; by 16, she’d signed a $2 million, two-album contract with Arista Records. By 17, she was one of pop-punk’s most popular artists, earning the reputation as a “skater punk,” and “pop punk princess.” She has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide in her 15 year career.

Being a skater, pop-punk icon, it’s no wonder that Lavigne has been seen over-indulging a few times. Still, she’s kept her personal life and persona largely under wraps compared to some of her contemporaries, and this cute, drunk picture of her chowing down on some pizza makes her that much more relatable. Let’s reserve our judgment – we’ve all been there.

14. Mischa Barton

English-Irish actress and model Mischa Barton was a very popular actress during the 1990s and 2000s. She first began with stage acting, then did an American soap opera, All My Children, before moving on to voice acting, and finally film acting. She appeared in The Sixth Sense, Lost and Delirious, and her most famous role in the Fox TV series, The O.C.

The 29-year-old appeared on many runways and covers of fashion magazines during the height of her career, and she was noted for her beauty. In the picture above, however, the starlet is looking anything but glamorous, and, if anything, quite distraught.

13. Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson, the most famous English vampire in Hollywood thanks to the Twilight franchise, is known for his good looks, his accent, and for playing Edward Cullen. The five Twilight films grossed over $3.3 billion worldwide, making Pattinson one of the most sought-after actors in the business.

The Englishman is not afraid to do a little pub-crawling and party crashing, as seen in the picture above. In this, he is leaving an Emmys after party (after not appearing at the Emmys themselves), and can barely keep his vampiric, blood-red eyes open.

12. Macaulay Culkin

via ebaumsworld.com

via ebaumsworld.com

Macaulay Culkin was the 1990s most popular child star. He made his debut as Kevin McCallister in the family comedy Home Alone and its sequel, and continued to star in films through the early ’90s. During the height of his career, he was regarded as the most successful child actor since Shirley Temple.

That is why it was so heartbreaking for so many to see what happened to him as he got older – which is no secret. Drugs and alcohol took their toll on the young star, and he seemed to personify and open the floodgates for many child stars to come after him. This picture of him, looking more like a homeless, drunken drug-addict than a star, will surely ruin your childhood if you ever knew Culkin in the ’90s.

11. Simon Cowell

via newsmediaimages.com

via newsmediaimages.com

Simon Cowell, the brash, rude, extravagant English TV judge, producer, and A&R executive, is one of the most successful reality TV judges out there – if not the most. His tenure on American Idol, from 2002 to 2010, made him the most sought after stars out there. He has kickstarted the careers of many musicians, such as One Direction (which he built from the ground up).

With all of his seriousness and successful business endeavors, you might not expect to see Cowell hitting the town in such a public way, but then you’d be wrong. In the picture above, he seems completely flabbergasted and knackered as to a) where he is, b) where he’s going, and c) who’s driving that car.

10. Christina Aguilera

via atrl.net

via atrl.net

Along with Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera is one of the most successful pop icons of the late-20th and early-21st centuries. She has sold over 50 million albums worldwide, and was ranked by Rolling Stone at number 58 on their list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. She also has appeared as a judge on the reality music show, The Voice.

Aguilera is known for her high energy, and was given the title “Princess of Pop” pretty much right after the launch of her career. Despite that, she has been known to have slumps of her own, which can be seen in the picture above, where she is looking less-than energetic with her makeup smudged and her demeanor downtrodden.

9. Paris Hilton

via lifeissavage.com

via lifeissavage.com

Paris Hilton, the original socialite who was famous for being famous, has all but been overshadowed in recent years by her friend Kim Kardashian. But at one point, during the mid-2000s, Hilton was “New York’s leading It Girl,” and was on the front pages of every tabloid and media outlet.

She gained notoriety for her leaked 2003 sex tape, and she became a media sensation. Her 2004 memoir became a New York Times Best Seller, her fragrance line has earned over $1.5 billion, and she charges over $300,000 to appear at nightclubs and events. She is known as a hard-partying girl, and the picture above is just one example of a time she’d rather (and probably did) forget.

8. Britney Spears

via sportfinger.blogspot.com

via sportfinger.blogspot.com

Britney Spears’ career started when she was young. As a teenager, her first studio album, …Baby One More Time, became the best-selling album by a teenage solo artist. She influenced the revival of teen pop during the late ’90s, and has since sold over 100 million albums worldwide. In 2012, Forbes reported that she was the highest paid female musician of the year, with earnings of $58 million.

Britney is the voice of a (now mid-20s) generation, and people growing up in the ‘90s still look up to her today, despite her continued struggles in her personal life. She’s been in and out of drug rehabs, shaved her head, and has hit rock bottom and bounced back, time and time again. This picture is an example of the dark times in Britney’s illustrious life.

7. Lindsay Lohan

via manolith.com

via manolith.com

Another child star gone famously awry, Lindsay Lohan began her career when she was just three, as a child fashion model. At 11, she starred in the Disney movie The Parent Trap , which shot her to fame. After four consecutive commercial successes in film, Lohan became a teen sensation.

But that kind of fame weighs heavy on a young soul, and Lohan was no different. In 2007, she had two DUIs and three rehab visits, causing the loss of several movie deals. Between 2010 and 2013, she went into rehab three more times, and was entwined in numerous probation violations and misdemeanors. Her career is still somewhat active, but it will always be marred by her past, which personifies the phrase “dazed and confused”, and this picture epitomizes that perfectly.

6. Matthew McConaughey

via popsugar.com

via popsugar.com

Matthew McConaughey began his career with his breakout role in the 1993 comedy, Dazed and Confused. He went on to become the bad-boy surfer typecast, and starred in many romantic comedies through the 2000s. By 2010, he had reinvented himself as one of the premiere dramatic actors, starring in roles such as The Lincoln Lawyer, Mud, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Dallas Buyers Club, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor. He also starred in the 2014 acclaimed HBO series True Detective.

Even though he’s regarded as one of this generation’s best actors, he’s had his troubles, just like everyone else. From ranting on-and-on somewhat incoherently during award shows, to being seen absolutely blitzed in public by paparazzi and media, it just goes to show that no one can escape the tabloid ire in Hollywood.

5. Pamela Anderson

via nz-entertainment.9msn.com

We all know Pamela Anderson as the bosom-bouncing star in Baywatch, from her time as the Playboy front-cover front-runner, and for her sex tape with Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee. It goes without saying that Anderson has lived a wild life, and with that lifestyle comes drugs and booze.

Although rather than her fame being the trigger, it seems something much darker was at work in Anderson’s life. In a 2014 speech during the Cannes Film Festival, she opened up about being sexually assaulted during her teens, and using cocaine and alcohol to numb those thoughts. She has since stated that she is working harder than ever on her recovery. This picture above is when she was probably not working quite as hard on her recovery, as she is helped out of a nightclub in Hollywood.

4. Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson went from being one of the most well-respected, highest-paid actors in Hollywood, to a cancerous sore of the industry, practically overnight. His well-documented ranting and ravings – including racial and religious slurs to an arresting officer while he was getting a DUI – blacklisted him from Hollywood.

Gibson has struggled with alcohol since he started drinking at the age of 13. He has been seen by paparazzi at AA meetings, was arrested for DUI in 2006, and has been the target of domestic-violence investigations. In the picture above, we see an obviously inebriated and crazed Gibson fending off paparazzi while he plans to make his escape in the Prius behind him. Since his troubles, Gibson has gained the support of many colleagues to give him another chance, though his fate in Hollywood still remains divided and uncertain.

3. Ozzy Osbourne

In an industry where sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll are the motto – and things to strive for – perhaps no one in rock history managed to get as messed up as the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne. The Godfather of Heavy Metal has had one of the most tumultuous careers, which has always been surrounded by his stunning alcohol and drug abuse.

Band mate Tony Iommi said that while all the band members were involved in alcohol and drugs in the ’70s, Osbourne had the unhealthiest lifestyle of them all. That is pretty evident by the numerous videos showing a crazed, unintelligible Osbourne. Just take a look at the interview above with Barbara Walters. Though he became clean for extended periods, as recently as 2013 he claimed that he had resumed drinking and taking drugs. He has since (supposedly) gone clean again.

2. Kiefer Sutherland

via vergecampus.com

Kiefer Sutherland has been mostly associated throughout his career as Jack Bauer, the badass star of the Fox series 24, of which he has won numerous awards for. He also has a successful movie career, starring in films such as A Few Good Men, The Lost Boys, The Three Musketeers, A Time to Kill, and more.

If you’re living under a rock, you might not know that Sutherland has battled with alcohol problems for many years – and the pictures of him completely wasted are all over the Internet. Between 1989 and 2007, he had four DUIs, with the last one landing him in jail for 48 days. He was also detained by the NYPD for head-butting fashion designer Jack McCollough, though he later publicly apologized and the assault charges were dropped. Here we can see a collage of some of his drunken antics.

1. David Hasselhoff

via film.onet.pl

via film.onet.pl

David Hasselhoff has the Guinness World Record for being the most watched man on TV. The infamous drunken-cheeseburger incident of 2007 might as well earn him the Guinness World Record for being the most watched shirtless drunk guy eating a cheeseburger on the bathroom floor. The 2007 video was taken by his daughter, Taylor Ann, to show him how he acts when he’s drunk. The video made Hasselhoff the “King of the Internet.”

Everyone knows the Hoff from Knight Rider, and as Mitch Buchannon from Baywatch. But until that video was released – which went viral overnight – it wasn’t apparent to viewers how troubled and lost the most watched man on TV really was. Two years later, in May 2009, he was rushed to the hospital with alcohol poisoning and a BAC of 0.39 – five times over the legal limit. In September 2009, he was again hospitalized; in November, he was hospitalized following a seizure, and in May 2010 he was hospitalized following a three-day drinking binge.
