Of all the candidates running in the United Sates presidential election in 2016, Donald Trump may be one of the most vocal - and the most entertaining. You may have heard about one Mr. Trump’s most shocking tweets in regard to Hillary Clinton: “If Hillary Clinton can’t satisfy her husband, what makes her think she can satisfy America?”
According to the Daily Mail, Trump was not to blame for the tweet. The culprit was one of Trump’s 10 staff members who help him manage his social media accounts. Despite Trump’s innocence in this case, and even allegedly deleting the tweet as soon as he saw it, he has still said his fair share of nasty comments and offensive remarks. The following are the 10 worst things Donald Trump has ever said.
10 Same Sex Marriage
To the surprise of no one, Trump has gone as far as making controversial and offensive remarks about same sex marriage. According to the New York Times, he described his opposition of same-sex marriage through the use of a golf simile, “it’s like in golf: a lot of people - I don’t want this to sound trivial - but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive. It’s weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can’t sink three-footers anymore. And, I hate it. I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist.”
9 The O’Reilly Factor
According to The Business Insider, Donald Trump recently informed Bill O’Reilly that America should remain in Iraq to “keep the oil” and that Saudi Arabia, as well as the rest of the Arab League, forced America to attack Libya.
However, the pièce de résistance came at the conclusion of the evening, as Trump stated, “our weak president, that kisses everybody’s ass, is in more wars than I have ever seen. Now he’s in Lybia, he’s in Afghanistan, he’s in Iraq. Nobody respects us.”
If there is one person Trump likes to attack during his speeches, it’s Obama. According to the Independent, Trump openly stated, “he may not have one [a birth certificate] but there is something on that, maybe religion, maybe it says he is a Muslim. I don’t know. Maybe he doesn’t want that. Or he may not have one. I will tell you this: if he wasn’t born in this country, it’s one of the great scams of all time.”
This was not the first time Trump made a cringe-worthy comment concerning the current president of the United States, and it probably won’t be the last.
7 Global Warming
Some may say that with the amount of information now available, global warming is no longer deniable. Donald Trump would not be one of those people, as indicated by his tweets.
According to the New York Daily News, on November 6th 2012, Mr. Trump tweeted: “The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.” The next day he reportedly tweeted, “It’s freezing and snowing in New York - we need global warming!”
6 Rosie O’Donnell
Donald Trump responds to criticism as one would expect high-schoolers to: by lashing out angrily and insulting his counter parts, instead of addressing the criticism. American comedian Rosie O’Donnell has become one of Trump’s targets for slander, as she openly criticized him.
In response, Trump announced to the whole world on Entertainment Tonight, that “Rosie O’Donnell is disgusting, both inside and out. If you take a look at her, she’s a slob. How does she even get on television? If I were running The View, I’d fire Rosie. I’d look her right in that fat, ugly face of hers and say ‘Rosie, you’re fired.’”
5 Hurricane Sandy
In 2012, after continually lashing out at Obama, Donald Trump decided to use a new, more desperate tactic to attack the president: Hurricane Sandy. According to the Daily Mail, Trump waited only a few hours to gain attention from the storm which struck the East Coast.
Mr. Trump reportedly tweeted: “Hurricane [Sandy] is good luck for Obama again – he will buy election by handing out billions of dollars.” That is correct, while New York was struggling, trying to recover from a severe blackout, Trump was stating the injustice of Obama using the Hurricane as some sort of tactic gain votes.
4 Hillary Clinton
Though Trump may not be responsible for the offensive tweet regarding Hillary Clinton satisfying her husband and America, he has nevertheless made his fair share of rude remarks concerning her.
According to the Independent, Trump has stated “Hillary Clinton was the worse Secretary of State in the history of the United States. There’s never been a Secretary of State so bad as Hillary. The world blew up around us. We lost everything, including all relationships. There wasn’t one good thing that came out of that administration or her being Secretary of State.”
3 Sexual Assault
Perhaps one of the most offensive tweets Donald Trump has ever tweeted concerns sexual assault in the military. The Independent reported that Trump tweeted, “26, 000 unreported sexual assaults in the military-only 238 convictions. What did these geniuses expect when they put men & women together?”
Instead of questioning why so many assaults in the military go unreported or suggesting solutions, Trump prefers to blame the statistic on human nature, stating that men and women cannot serve together.
According to The New York Times, Donald Trump called a lawyer “disgusting” for having to pause a testimony in order to breastfeed her baby. The incident occurred in 2011, during a testimony discussing a failed real estate project. Lawyer Elizabeth Beck “requested a medical break” two hours after the session began. After Trump and his legal team objected, Beck pulled out a breast-feeding pump to explain that her three-month old daughter needed feeding.
It was at this point Trump told her “you’re disgusting,” and left the room. Trump’s lawyer, Alan Garten, came to Trump’s defense by stating that “it was solely the fact that she was appearing to do it in the middle of a deposition” which disgusted his client.
Immigration is usually a touchy subject, and as such, it should be discussed carefully and diplomatically. Donald Trump, however, seems to think otherwise.
According to The Huffington Post, Mr. Trump bluntly stated that “when Mexico send its people, they’re not sending their best… They’re sending people that have lots of problems and they’re bringing those problems with us - they’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists - and some, I assume are good.”
