The 10 Best Places in the World to Spot a UFO

Many people forget that a UFO is defined as an unidentified flying object – meaning no one really knows what it is. While many sightings of UFOs have been documented throughout the years and across continents, the only thing that ties these encounters together is that many of these objects seen in the sky above remain unidentified. Of course, theories and conspiracies run the gamut from advanced military aircraft to visitations by alien life forms to cosmic shifts.

UFOs have been dismissed over the years as weather patterns, commercial aircraft and migratory birds. There is even a day of the year that enthusiasts have devoted to UFOs, World UFO Day which aims to encourage governments to declassify whatever information they do have regarding strange objects that people have witnessed. To date, Word UFO Day has not produced any groundbreaking information. All we do know is that twinkling lights, spinning objects, illuminated orbs, and black dots continue to appear in the skies above us.

UFOs have been reported all over the world, and some areas do seem more prone to activity. Next time you look up and find something unusual, all you can definitively know is that no one will either confirm or deny what it is you saw. The following places are areas where UFO activity has been recorded. These places draw the curious UFO enthusiast and the serious researcher. Visit at your own risk.

This city, with a population of a little over 48,000, is synonymous with the theory of alien existence. Roswell is famous for a UFO incident that occurred in 1947. William Brazel and his son claimed to have seen an area of bright light and what appeared to be wreckage close to a homestead where they were working. Military descended and a full investigation was conducted. Even though the US military dismissed the findings of any crash debris as that belonging to a weather balloon, people still believe that something greater happened here. Eyewitnesses maintain that Roswell was the location of a major alien cover up. The town has celebrated its infamy by hosting an alien festival each year, an alien 10 km race, and Galaxy Fest – a convention that hosts researchers and experts in the areas of UFOs and alien life form.

9. Area 51, Nevada

Whether you want to call it by one of its many names – Homey Airport, Groom Lake, Dreamland, Paradise Ranch, Homebase or Watertown – it really doesn’t matter because this area has been shrouded in mystery for years. Area 51 is a secretive military base, and that’s all that we really know. Speculation abounds as to what happens here. It wasn’t until 2015 that the US government even officially acknowledged the existence of Area 51.
The base is located in Nevada, less than 100 miles northwest of Las Vegas. UFO activity has surrounded Area 51 for decades. Conspiracy theorists claim that this is where the remnants of the crashed Roswell UFO was brought for study. They also believe that this is where meetings with extraterrestrials take place, advanced weaponry is developed, weather control is conducted, time travel and teleportation technology is developed and utilized, as well as a multitude of other theories.
Even people who claimed to have worked at Area 51 have presented evidence of what they believe occurs here – though these people are always largely dismissed by the government. UFO activity continues to this day. Just be careful not to cross onto private military property or you will be arrested.

John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida is the location of the National Aeronautics Space Administration’s (NASA) launch operations center. Every single human manned space flight has been launched from this location. It’s also at this location where multiple people claim to have seen objects in the sky other than planes or NASA spacecraft.

Strange tales abound, and they don’t just come from private citizens. People claiming to work or have worked for NASA say they have seen things here they cannot explain. UFO websites went wild in 2008 when they claimed a retired NASA craft operator said he viewed an 8 to 9 foot extraterrestrial being interacting with NASA astronauts during an authorized shuttle mission. The retired official said he was not supposed to view that exchange, but he went on to confirm that aliens are here on Earth and walk among us.

NASA refutes any reports of extraterrestrials or alien life forms, for now. Still, if you’re curious about what’s above the skies around Kennedy Space Center, just look up when you’re nearby as you may spot something you’re not supposed to see.

Some people claim the M Triangle is Russia’s Area 51. This area is an isolated forest in the Ural Mountains of Russia. Strange bright lights, sounds, UFOs and encounters with translucent beings are just some of the claims about this place. Activity is reported here sometimes daily by nearby residents. Some UFO researchers believe that a base is located somewhere within the mountains and that the Russians have been in communication with aliens for years. The length of activity ranges from seconds to much longer, and sometimes lights can be seen hovering for hours. Some people even say if you enter the M Triangle you will exit with an unexplainable increase in intelligence.

With nearly 1,000 UFO sightings in 2011 alone it’s clear to see why this place would be a prime location for UFO watching. Curious sights in the sky include flashing lights, saucers, orbs, and spheres. One of the most famous Canadian UFO sightings took place in the mid-1970s. Charlie Red Star is the name given to the series of sightings that happened between 1975 and 1976 near the town of Carmen. A large, red orb was seen to hover and sometimes speed away. Sometimes the orb was said to take the shape of more than one, sometimes dozens of small orbs. Hundreds of people claimed to have seen the red orbs, including local officials, television reporters and journalists. Charlie Red Star has yet to be explained, but strange things continue to be spotted in the sky in Manitoba.

In 1947 private pilot Kenneth Arnold reported seeing a string of shiny UFOs zoom past Mt. Rainier. Arnold referred to the shapes as “flying disks” and his belief was that they were not connected to the US military in any way. Arnold was interviewed several times about what he encountered. Soon thereafter other newspapers began calling the objects flying saucers or flying discs. The term flying saucer was first thought to appear in print during this time. Over the next couple of weeks after Arnold’s experience sightings in the area intensified. There have been hundreds of UFO sightings around Mineral Lake since then and they continue to this day.

This small town in Scotland has reported thousands of UFO sightings in the past few years. With a population of less than 700, and an estimate of 300 sightings per year, it’s safe to say almost everyone in this town is aware of the activity. Some claim that Bonnybridge is not only just a hotbed for UFO activity, but that it’s the world’s most active location for viewing unidentified flying objects. The Ministry of Defense maintains that there is no evidence that any foreign aircraft has entered the Bonnybridge airspace. Most of what has been reported are curious lights in the air from circle of lights to football-size blue lights. People have also reported hearing howl-like sounds.

It’s thought that the ancient Nazca culture drew these lines in the Nazca Dessert forming shapes such as human figures; llamas, birds and fish between 500 BC and 500 AD. The Nazca lines are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are a draw for thousands of tourists each year. Researchers are still not exactly sure how the Nazca lines were constructed but what everyone is clearly sure of is that the shapes the lines make can only be seen clearly from the air. So, who did the Nazca create these images for as they can only be seen from great distances above? UFO researchers believe that the ancient peoples here were communicating with extraterrestrials. Many tourists visit in hopes of viewing UFOs or running into aliens.

In the small town of San Clemente, Chile a 19 mile stretch of road was opened in 2008 called the UFO Trail. Locals say this is a favorite place for alien visitors, spacecraft, and UFO enthusiasts to monitor the sky. Locals claim that this area’s high activity level is due to it being formed centuries ago by 200 perfectly sliced volcanic blocks. Nearly half of the residents of this small community have claimed to have seen a UFO in the area. The trail draws researchers and the curious alike. Just last year a moving UFO was recorded by a visitor. A tour guide can even be reserved to bring you out here to visit with ETs.
