15 Former Playmates Who Lost Their Looks

Although Playboy no longer uses nude models in their print publication, there have certainly been enough centerfolds and covers depicting their iconic nude style since the first edition was printed in 1953.

Over the years, Playboy has become a cultural phenomenon that had a mission to normalize the female body to make it less shocking and more accepted in the public eye. It became a platform for many women to express their sensuality, have a chance to experience more of the world, and, of course, flaunt their beautiful appearance. Some of the hottest celebrities started their careers posing in Playboy, and others have used the magazine to help redefine their image.

The popularity of the magazine and Hugh Hefner himself, created a number of additional pop culture moments in time. From the annual Midsummer Night’s Dream Party to the reality show, The Girls Next Door, Playboy is much more than just a magazine. The women depicted in its photos, videos, and parties all seem to be the most beautiful girls in any man’s fantasy. Yet, if The Girls Next Door has taught us anything, it’s that even the hottest Playboy model can lose their looks.

From Anna Nicole Smith ballooning in weight to Barbi Benton looking more like the Grandma next door than the girl-next-door, not all of Playboy’s models have been able to keep up their appearance like Jenny McCarthy and Kelly Monaco. Check out our list of 15 former Playboy hotties that lost their looks, and see how some of their most memorable models no longer look centerfold-ready.

Victoria Fuller was the centerfold model for Playboy’s January edition in 1996. She was named Playmate of the Month, and seemed like a rising star. She was highlighted in a number of Playboy Special Editions, which landed her a number of television appearances through hit reality competition shows. She even returned to Playboy in 2005, proving that she still had the looks to pull off a nude pictorial.

However, her 14-year marriage seemed to make her more relaxed in her appearance and she no longer had the glamorous look of a Playboy model. Instead, she started a career as a nanny, and seems more comfortable behind the scenes instead of in front of the lens.

12. Priscilla Taylor

Posing for Playboy was Priscilla Taylor’s claim to fame in 1996, and she became Playmate of the Month in March. While her look was super attractive in the ’90s, she seems to be stuck in a certain era that is no longer attractive on a woman of a particular age.

Still trying to flaunt her midriff and over-the-top bleached blonde hair, Taylor seems to want to recapture her ’90s look. Instead of maintaining her hotness, she just looks like an aging star that can’t get over her past fame. Dressing like a teenager and trying desperately to exude sex appeal, someone needs to tell Taylor that 1996 called and they want their look back.

11. Shauna Sand

Unlike other Playboy models that seemed to be just plucked from the masses or picked up at the local strip club, Shauna Sand was already a college-educated woman with an accomplished dance background. In May 1996, Sand became Playboy’s Playmate of the Month, which led to a number of television appearances. She married Lorenzo Lamas that same year, but the two divorced in 2002.

Like so many women who reached their peak of beauty in a particular decade, Sand’s current look isn’t far from where she started. With the look of a burnt-out Vegas stripper, Sand still continues to wear pleather and clownish makeup, which isn’t exactly the most flattering look.

10. Samantha Fox

While Samantha Fox wasn’t a huge celebrity in the U.S., she was a celebrated pop star in Europe. Known for posing pinup-style, the ’80s were huge for Fox. While she had posed topless before, it wasn’t until her pictorial in Playboy magazine in 1995 that she became a full-fledged nude model. As a 29-year-old, she wasn’t exactly the “fresh-faced girl-next-door” the magazine usually looked for in their models. However, her celebrity status seemed to trump her age, and she made it in the magazine. Her current look is much more conservative, which is refreshing in that she isn’t trying to hold onto her ’80s style. However, she has taken her fitness fetish to a new level, and now looks like she is a body builder rather than a former model.

9. Nikki Schieler Ziering

When Nikki Schieler (now Nikki Ziering) was introduced to the public as the Playmate of the Month for September in 1997, she became an instant favorite for her girl-next-door look. Seemingly a natural beauty, she was picked for the cover of the magazine twice and ultimately landed some lucrative modeling deals through Venus Swimwear and Frederick’s of Hollywood.

However, she doesn’t seem to have embraced the aging process in recent years, and is often seen with an overly plump and pulled look on the red carpet. From the overly inflated cheek bones to the forehead that just doesn’t move, she definitely doesn’t have the natural look that made her famous at the start of her career.

8. Peggy McIntaggart

Canadian Playboy model, Peggy McIntaggart, was a celebrated centerfold for the magazine and was Miss January in 1990. She parlayed her centerfold success into some Playboy videos and a number of appearances on television shows like Baywatch and Herman’s Head. She also starred in a few films, including a cameo in Beverly Hills Cop II (even though she played a stripper). She was never thought of as toothpick skinny, especially since she started with a 36DD bra size. While she gained a substantial amount of weight, it’s the lip changes that make the most drastic impact. Creating a much more manly look about her, McIntaggart looks far from the Playboy model she was when she was first introduced to the public.

7. Barbi Twins

Twins have always been intriguing to the public, especially when they’re blonde, curvy, and beautiful. Shane and Sia Barbi, popularly known as the Barbi Twins, broke records in 1991 when they posed for Playboy’s cover and had the magazine selling out in under two weeks. The popularity of their first cover led to an additional cover and a pictorial that again sold out magazines. Unlike other Playboy models that had difficulty transitioning to mainstream modeling, the Barbi Twins were able to get covers on everything from Cosmopolitan to Redbook. However, age has not been kind to the twins, and no amount of plastic surgery can mask the stark difference between their faces and their wrinkled necks.

6. Shelley Michelle

Prior to her Playboy pictorial, Shelley Michelle made a name for herself on the big screen, but not in a way that you might imagine. In 1988, Michelle started a career as a body double playing as Kim Basinger in My Stepmother Is an Alien. However, her most memorable body double moment was in the film Pretty Woman. Most people don’t want to believe that it wasn’t really Julia Roberts doing all those sexy nude scenes, but that just shows that Michelle did a great job in her stead. Yet, Pretty Woman was a long time ago. Nowadays, she can be seen on the red carpet wearing clown-like makeup to cover all the wrinkles and a hairstyle that befits a teenager rather than the older woman she has become.

5. Patti Davis

As the daughter of Ronald Reagan, you’d think Patti Davis would get into a life of politics. So, it was shocking when Davis decided to pose for Playboy. In 1994, Davis posed in a pictorial and starred on the cover in a highly controversial full frontal photo. The magazine is known for choosing models not just based on their body type or look, but for their celebrity background. Nowadays, she has managed to maintain her fit physique but age has definitely caught up to her. From the straggly hair to the withered skin, Davis is probably the most unlikely Playboy model in the publication.

4. Kimberly Conrad Hefner

Although Hugh Hefner is often thought of as the ultimate bachelor, many people might be surprised to know that he has tendencies towards traditional family life. Hefner married Kimberly Conrad in 1989, and the couple had two children together before divorcing. Kimberly posed in Playboy a number of times, including being chosen Playmate of the Month in January of 1988. While she’s no longer posing in the magazine, she doesn’t just sit at home and read. Posing on the red carpet with deep-set eye makeup and contouring that looks more like a sweaty mess, she doesn’t exactly fit the picture of the woman that was able to nab the most notorious bachelor in the world.

3. Satterfield Triplets

Playboy has always had a thing for multiples, so when the Satterfield Triplets made an appearance in the magazine, people just loved the thought of three beautifully identical blondes. While the airbrushing and props made for a great photo spread, closer attention to facial features made people wonder what the magazine was thinking with these three girls. While many former Playboy models go on to bigger and better things, it seems the public weren’t too interested in seeing any of these sisters once the novelty started to wear off. Gaining weight and apparently plagued with bad attitude, two of the sisters were working at an Ohio strip club when they were arrested on assault charges while in the back changing area. Oh, how the mighty have fallen!

2. Shanna Moakler

First introduced to the public as Miss USA in 1995, Shanna Moakler was everything Playboy looks for in one of their models. Not only did she have the girl-next-door look, but she held a title that created a lot of intrigue in what she might have going on underneath her pageant gown. Becoming Playmate of the Month in December 2001, she landed a celebrity husband and even a successful reality show, Meet the Barkers. However, just as her marriage was fleeting, so were her looks. Gaining considerable weight and undergoing numerous plastic surgery attempts, Moakler looks far from the Miss USA turned Playboy model from her younger years.

1. Pamela Anderson

Not many Playboy models can boast the type of success that was afforded Pamela Anderson. Starring in a number of pictorials and covers, she is perhaps the most celebrated model in Playboy history. Launching a career in film and television, Anderson has made a name for herself worldwide. While she’s had a few snafus in her personal life, it’s not just the sex tape that has people still talking about Anderson. From the over-the-top hair pieces to the pulled and plastic-looking face, she seems to be fighting the aging process with full gusto. And it’s not working in her favor.
