Although Playboy no longer uses nude models in their print publication, there have certainly been enough centerfolds and covers depicting their iconic nude style since the first edition was printed in 1953.
Over the years, Playboy has become a cultural phenomenon that had a mission to normalize the female body to make it less shocking and more accepted in the public eye. It became a platform for many women to express their sensuality, have a chance to experience more of the world, and, of course, flaunt their beautiful appearance. Some of the hottest celebrities started their careers posing in Playboy, and others have used the magazine to help redefine their image.
The popularity of the magazine and Hugh Hefner himself, created a number of additional pop culture moments in time. From the annual Midsummer Night’s Dream Party to the reality show, The Girls Next Door, Playboy is much more than just a magazine. The women depicted in its photos, videos, and parties all seem to be the most beautiful girls in any man’s fantasy. Yet, if The Girls Next Door has taught us anything, it’s that even the hottest Playboy model can lose their looks.
From Anna Nicole Smith ballooning in weight to Barbi Benton looking more like the Grandma next door than the girl-next-door, not all of Playboy’s models have been able to keep up their appearance like Jenny McCarthy and Kelly Monaco. Check out our list of 15 former Playboy hotties that lost their looks, and see how some of their most memorable models no longer look centerfold-ready.
13 Victoria Fuller
Victoria Fuller was the centerfold model for Playboy’s January edition in 1996. She was named Playmate of the Month, and seemed like a rising star. She was highlighted in a number of Playboy Special Editions, which landed her a number of television appearances through hit reality competition shows. She even returned to Playboy in 2005, proving that she still had the looks to pull off a nude pictorial.
12 Priscilla Taylor
Posing for Playboy was Priscilla Taylor’s claim to fame in 1996, and she became Playmate of the Month in March. While her look was super attractive in the '90s, she seems to be stuck in a certain era that is no longer attractive on a woman of a particular age.
11 Shauna Sand
Unlike other Playboy models that seemed to be just plucked from the masses or picked up at the local strip club, Shauna Sand was already a college-educated woman with an accomplished dance background. In May 1996, Sand became Playboy’s Playmate of the Month, which led to a number of television appearances. She married Lorenzo Lamas that same year, but the two divorced in 2002.
10 Samantha Fox
9 Nikki Schieler Ziering
When Nikki Schieler (now Nikki Ziering) was introduced to the public as the Playmate of the Month for September in 1997, she became an instant favorite for her girl-next-door look. Seemingly a natural beauty, she was picked for the cover of the magazine twice and ultimately landed some lucrative modeling deals through Venus Swimwear and Frederick’s of Hollywood.
8 Peggy McIntaggart
7 Barbi Twins
6 Shelley Michelle
5 Patti Davis
4 Kimberly Conrad Hefner
3 Satterfield Triplets
2 Shanna Moakler
1 Pamela Anderson
Not many Playboy models can boast the type of success that was afforded Pamela Anderson. Starring in a number of pictorials and covers, she is perhaps the most celebrated model in Playboy history. Launching a career in film and television, Anderson has made a name for herself worldwide. While she’s had a few snafus in her personal life, it’s not just the sex tape that has people still talking about Anderson. From the over-the-top hair pieces to the pulled and plastic-looking face, she seems to be fighting the aging process with full gusto. And it’s not working in her favor.
