Children are an absolute blessing. They bring joy into our lives and show us that there is so much to learn, even as we grow into adults. But what could possibly make someone consider a child to be creepy or scary? It could be the small things that go unnoticed by parents. Or what a child has to say sometimes can truly terrify us. For example, a Reddit thread which posted the question, "What is the creepiest thing your child has ever said to you?" decided to get some answers, but what they found was way creepier than what they had bargained for.
Quite a few of the responses were very scary, and they came from all around the globe, posting at different times throughout the day and night. Some were just mild, with statements that were normal for children. But others were so disturbing and gruesome that they caught the attention of others. They were the creepiest sayings from children that we had ever read, and created permanent images in our minds from the mouths of children. And now, without further ado, let us countdown the top fifteen scariest things that children have ever said to their parents.
15 "Nobody Scroofs Me There"
This strange story comes from username utcursch:
"Getting my 2-year-old daughter out of the bath one night, my wife and I were briefing her on how important it was she kept her privates clean. She casually replied, 'Oh, nobody scroofs me there. They tried one night. They kicked the door in and tried but I fought back. I died and now I’m here.' She said it like it was nothing."
What makes this post so scary is its ability to bring to life what every parent fears to happen in the back of their minds. Certainly no one would ever want their child to be touched inappropriately, but in the post, the little girl describes what seems to be a past life, that is, if you believe in that sort of thing. Kids all around the country have been going through these types of experiences though, and it is becoming more common as we move forward in years.
14 Bye, Bye Daddy
This first creepy and disturbing child comment comes from a Reddit user named UnfortunateBirthMark, and certainly weighs in as terrifying:
"I was tucking in my two year old. He said 'Good bye dad.' I said, 'No, we say good night.' He said, 'I know. But this time it’s good bye.' I had to check on him a few times to make sure he was still there."
This is certainly one of the creepiest things a child could ever say to their parents, much less their own father. But what did the child really mean? We hear kids all the time, talking about random people and situations and we never really pay much attention to them, but what this child said is certainly to be considered an alarming moment in childhood. No parent wants to hear these words come from their child's mouth, which makes this post all the more creepy for parents everywhere.
13 Skin Peeler
"I was sound asleep and at around 6am I was woken up by my 4-year-old daughter’s face a few inches from mine. She looked right into my eyes and whispered, 'I want to peel all your skin off.' The backstory here is I had been sunburnt the previous week and was starting to peel. In my sleep-addled state however, it was pretty terrifying for a few seconds. I didn’t know if I was dreaming, or what was going on."
This post came from username psalm_69 and differs from the level of scary that the others seem to bring to the table. In the post, the lady explains that it was simply because she was sun burnt and her skin was peeling, but she wasn't sure if she was dreaming. While this is terrifying, luckily there seems to be a reason behind the weirdness of the situation, or is it really the reason?
12 Die Die Die!
What could be worse than your child slowly whispering in your ear, telling you to die? That is what Reddit user Pookiepi was experiencing one day as she explains in the post below:
"My toddler went through a phase where she would just constantly say 'hi' to things… 'Hi hi hi hi hi.' One day, it came out sounding more like 'Die die die die die.' So I say to her, 'What’s that you’re saying?' And she turns to face me and just whispers, 'Diiiiieeeeee…..'
This is certainly not the worst thing that could happen to you as a parent, but imagining your child whispering into your ear about death? It's definitely something to get you worried about your child's well being. But every day, we find kids who have very wild and vibrant imaginations, picking up on the slightest words and sounds, so it's no wonder that a child would say something like this without having heard it from someone else... right?
11 The Bad Man
“Why are you crying?”
“What bad man?”
“There.” Points behind me at a dark corner of the room. Lamp on bookshelf next to said darkened corner falls off as soon as I turn to look.
She slept in our bed that night.
We hear about these types of scary events all the time, and they're often pitched as scenes in horror films. A little girl or boy is scared that there is someone in their room. The parent checks around in the darkest places, but doesn't find anything out of the ordinary. But username falicor begs to differ, especially considering they actually saw something happen in their child's room. This post is both scary and spine chilling, considering the last thing a parent wants is for their child's to be made real. And while many would speculate this story isn't true, there's no sure way to say with certainty that it isn't a true story.
10 A Kid With A Knife
I wake up to find my three year old standing by the bed staring at me inches from me with a huge grin on his face. he just stares and grins..."What are you doing?" I finally say. "Nothing" still grinning. At this point I realize he's got his hands behind his back. "Are you holding something?" "No." I look anyway. He's holding our largest carving knife behind his back.
One of the most unnerving situations that no parent ever wants to encounter is that of a scene from a horror movie. This story comes from Reddit username Boronx. It's almost as if the kid was planning on hurting the parent, if the story is even real. But even if this story was completely made up, it's still a creepy and terrible situation, and certainly not something a parent wants a kid to be doing late at night or even early in the morning.
9 Dog Eater
We got my little sister a puppy over Christmas break. We waited till she was asleep then went to pick up the puppy. So, the next day she woke up, and when she saw the dog, instead of going all googly-eyed and happy, she said, "My baby! It's not time for you yet!" And tried to pick up the dog and shove it in her mouth.
We all experience some pretty strange things with our kids. These weird situations often open up a different understanding in our minds about our children, but sometimes, they're situations that are so weird that we can't even put into words a proper reaction. This story for example, which came from Reddit username clothesallowence, and your little sister trying to shove a puppy down her throat isn't exactly the type of thing you simply walk away from. Many would argue that she simply adopted this idea from something she saw growing up, however, if she hadn't, that simple fact opens up a new door of horror.
8 Titanic Victim
My brother grew up being terrified of water. I'm four years older than him and during the nightly battle for bath time, when he was about three or four, I asked him why is he so scared of the water (being a water baby, as my mum put it, I just didn't understand). He looked at me and I remember this word for word. "I was in a big unsinkable ship. We hit the biggest iceberg and then it was really busy and then I got really cold and wet. I went to a warm bright place and waited until my next family came." My mum heard it all and decided bath time was over. Creepy thing is, my brother was born on April 15th, 1992 - the Titanic sunk April 15th, 1912.
This post came from Reddit username cordy88, and shows yet another example of a child who seems to remember a past life, the memories at such a young age due to a fear of water.
7 The Rabbits
This very interesting and strange post comes from Reddit user SatinSerpent, and shows that not all kids think the same way. Kids have very large imaginations, but some things are rather disturbing.
My son says: "Dad, do you lose weight if you get rid of those things inside your back?" Me: "What things?" Son: "The rabbits with no hair or eyes."
There is nothing a parent could do to prepare them for such words from a child. There is an absolute concern that comes from hearing something like this, as well as questions as to why the child would think such a thing. Why would his son think that there are rabbits inside the skin in the first place? Perhaps it was something he heard from another kid at school or perhaps it's just something that came from the imagination. Whatever the case, this dad sounds like he will have a hard time figuring it out.
6 The Ants
My daughter stopped me on the way out the door one afternoon. Completely serious look on her 3 year old face. She beckons me closer, so I kneel in front of her. She pulls out two plastics spoons, you won't lose your way. And a blue spoon, she holds them out to me and says, "A red spoon, so the ants can't carry you." When I took them, she hugged me tight around the neck, and ran to her room. Refused to talk to me for the rest of the day.
Even the parent of this post didn't seem to understand what was happening when their three year old ran up to them, handing them a red spoon and warning them about the ants. This post was submitted by TheTiniestPirate and it proves that some things are just so strange, we can't really explain them or make sense of them.
5 Spanish Words
This post comes from jeffholes and shows us just how far a child's imagination can go:
My daugther would say Spanish curse words in her sleep in a Danny-from-The-Shining kind of voice when she was five. She didn't know how to speak Spanish when she was awake.
A little kid having knowledge of a language they have never spoken or heard? It does seem a little far fetched, however, there are many cases of this happening all around the world. Children, either in their sleep or while they're awake, are telling their parents things they couldn't possibly know. A lot of these kids are cases of past lives, but sometimes, children will say things that are seemingly impossible for them to know, and it certainly scares us. This post is just one example of such an event. There are things happening everyday with children, events like this, that we can't explain.
4 The Woman On The Ceiling
As a parent, it is only natural to take into account the safety of your child. You want to make sure they are taken care of and always have a place they can retreat to if necessary. As a small child, this protection is vital, so when your daughter tells you about a strange woman who sleeps on the ceiling, and watches her as she watches her movies, it just a little unnerving. This post came from Reddit user eps421:
My daughter said to me that there is a woman who watches her watch movies in her room and sleeps on the ceiling above her bed when she sleeps. She also says, "It does not like me and wants to eat my heart." My kid watches Elmo and Dinosaur Train. Where in the hell did she get this from?
The question in which the user should probably be asking isn't where she got this idea from, but what exorcist she should be calling.
3 Cricket Bat
This little story comes from Reddit user Richpop, and tells a very detailed and creepy story about a creature that the parents obviously have never heard of, but the little three year old girl seems to know about it very well:
"There's a thing called a Cricket Bat. It kills. It just kills. All it does is kill. It wakes up and it kills and kills and kills then it sleeps, then it wakes up, and kills some more until it dies."
A Cricket Bat? What is the little girl really talking about? Most of the time, things like this are dismissed and the kids never really speak of it again. Could it have been something that she overheard on TV? That always seems to be the explanation most people use to excuse away things like this. But is it possible that the little girl has seen this creature?
2 Off With Their Heads
This post comes from joysprite, as another example of a child who has somehow remembered a past life they once had, however, unlike certain children's experiences, this little girl says she remembers her mom being there with her as well.
When my daughter was three, one day, she said to me, "Don't you remember, mommy? Before when you were the daughter and I was the mother, they came and chopped all our heads off. Chop, chop, chop, chop, chop! The whole village." I was so taken aback all I could think of to say was, "Fortunately, sweetheart, I don't remember the head chopping." Her response was, "Well, it happened, and I remember it really well."
To say the least, a child remembering something like this is absolutely terrible. Not to mention the fact in which she talks about it so carelessly like it was something that didn't even bother her.
1 Scientology Scare
And now for the scariest thing a child has ever said to their parent. This number one post comes from m1ygrndn, and doesn't exactly make sense, but it is very unnerving to say the least. There are countless theories that Scientology is run by beings that are otherwise not human, but to hear a child say something like this while all of these theories exist, it really makes a person wonder. Could there really be some truth to what people have theorized about the group for so many years? Or, could this just be another slap of imagination from a child?:
My son is 3 and we were walking downtown. When we walked by the Scientology building, he pointed to the stairs leading to the second floor and said, "Let's go up there daddy!" I said, "Why, what's up there?" He looks up at me and says, "Not people." I said, "What?" and he just says, "Not people daddy."
