10 Shocking Moments Beyonce Destroyed Her Perfect Image

Beyoncé has had a career that most artists could dream of. She has won a grand total of 502 awards including twenty Grammy Awards and eight Billboard Music Awards. She was born September 4th, 1981 in Houston, Texas and first burst onto the music scene as a member of R&B girl group Destiny's Child. Her debut solo album, Dangerously In Love, secured her a position as a top-selling artist who wanted the world to know that she had finally arrived.

Five studio albums later and Beyoncé has become one of the most respected and admired artists in the world. This is the woman who has only ever tweeted eight times and has 14 million followers. She married rapper Jay-Z in 2008 and collectively the couple have a net worth of over one billion dollars. The pair have always been fiercely private about their personal lives, choosing very carefully what they reveal to the public and what is kept on lock down. Sometimes life just isn't that simple and they have had a fair share of scandals over the years.

The following shocking events throughout Beyoncé's career are moments she would prefer we all forget. The perfect wife, sister, mother, daughter and performer image she wants the public to believe has let her down on occasion. Unfortunately, when you are one of the most photographed women in the world there will always be times you are caught out. Here are 10 shocking moments that Beyoncé wishes we knew nothing about.

10 Snubbing Kim and Kanye's Wedding

You can't pick who your husband chooses to be friends with but you can avoid every opportunity to bump into them - even if it is their own wedding day. Jay-Z was set to be the best man at Kanye West's wedding to Kim Kardashian last year but he was a no show at the Italian venue.

So what was the big excuse? A world tour? A live appearance? No, they both were spotted on a romantic weekend together at The Hamptons. Although the snub was hurtful, the Single Ladies singer still found the time to tweet her congratulations to the couple. Jay-Z gave an apology in the shape of a wedding gift that was reported to be made with real diamonds and gold. Guess you can buy friendship then.

9 Miming At Barack Obama's Inauguration

On January 21st 2013, millions watched live as President Obama was sworn in during his inauguration. There were performances by James Taylor and Kelly Clarkson but these were overshadowed by Beyoncé - unfortunately for the wrong reasons. She performed Star Spangled Banner with a live orchestra but it wasn't until afterward that Twitter started to go into overdrive accusing her of miming.

She later admitted during a press conference that she was indeed just singing along to a pre-recorded track. The Houston-born star said, "I am a perfectionist and one thing about me is that I practise until my feet bleed and I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra". Fans were shocked as she has always been adamant that performing live is what she was born to do. Just not on this occasion though.

8 Photoshopping Her Instagram Pictures

Beyoncé has been caught out by beady-eyed fans for photoshopping her thigh gap on more than one occasion. The Flawless singer who encourages women everywhere to celebrate their curves appears to have a few insecurities of her own.

This wasn't the first photoshop scandal she has been the center of when earlier this year over 200 images from her L'Oreal 2013 campaign were made public. All the images were untouched and displayed the singer in a very unflattering light - her skin looked tired and covered in blemishes. Website Gawker who originally published the images had such hate from Beyonce's fans over the images that they eventually had to take them down. Proving you do not want to mess with the "Bey-Hive".

7 Accused Of Being A "Fake Feminist"

Beyoncé was doing a great job of convincing the world that she was a feminist until she released Drunk In Love. The song angered many anti-domestic violence support groups as it features the lyrics: "I'm Ike Turner, turn up. Baby know I don't play. Now eat the cake, Anna Mae". This is a reference to the domestic abuse Tina Turner (born Anna Mae) had to endure when her then husband, Ike Turner, forced cake into her face.

Feminists also were angered when she named her tour the "Mrs Carter Tour" after taking on the name of her husband. Then in May this year she attended the biggest fight of the year at the MGM Grand between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. She appeared to support Mayweather who had been previously charged with domestic violence. As much as she tries, there will always be hate firing her way from angry feminists worldwide.

6 Stealing "If I Were A Boy" From An Unknown Singer

In 2008, Beyoncé released the single If I Were A Boy and it became an international hit. A fairly unknown singer named BC Jean recognised the track on the radio and became very upset as she had actually wrote it. She angrily posted the song onto her MySpace page and wrote: “This is my song, I wrote it".

The track was in fact rejected by several record companies, but then picked up by Matthew Knowles (Beyoncé's Father) and used on the I Am...Sasha Fierce album in 2008. BC Jean was not given credit for the song but she did reach a settlement of $250,000 out of court. This wasn't the first time Beyoncé was accused of crediting herself for work that wasn't her own. She angered Ne-Yo when she claimed they both co-wrote Irreplaceable together, but according to the R&B songwriter her only contribution was humming the introduction.

5 When Kelly and Michelle Became Her Backing Singers

Beyoncé took on one of the biggest moments of her career as she was booked to headline the Superbowl half time show. She decided that on top of performing a rendition of some of her own greatest hits that she would also invite along Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child - possibly out of pity.

She then asked them on stage to help her perform Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) before they hurried off and let Queen B run the show once more. Fans went crazy on Twitter after the performance as they accused the star of turning down the other two microphones so her voice could be heard the loudest. Would she ever do a thing like that?

4 Accused Of Faking Her Pregnancy

Beyoncé's pregnancy with daughter Blue-Ivy wasn't just online rumours, it had actually become its very own conspiracy theory. In 2011, a TV interview witnessed the star take a seat and her bump appeared to "collapse" before our very eyes. In her documentary Life Is But A Dream (2013) there is footage of her dancing at an intimate gig after discovering she was pregnant. Many theorists have said the vigorous dance moves she performed would never have been carried out by a woman during the stages of pregnancy.

Other actions that further stirred up rumours was when Beyoncé finally gave birth, she had the entire hospital shut down so nobody could enter who hadn't been previously vetted by the couple. Then her body had snapped back into shape in less than a few months after the birth. Although Beyoncé claimed that she worked very hard to get back into shape there were still disbelievers who said it could not be done. You just can't convince some people.

3 Tidal and Champagne Controversy

Beyoncé shut down any possible viewing of her music video for Feeling Myself unless they paid a subscription fee for new music streaming website - Tidal. The site which was created by her husband, Jay-Z, charges fans $19.99 t0 $24.99 a month for access to exclusives. Fans were outraged when the video for the track with Nicki Minaj was available on YouTube but then swiftly removed for copyright infringement.

Fans coughed up the money to view the video and then almost coughed up their dinner when they witnessed Bey pouring a bottle of Armand de Brignac, also known as Ace of Spades, into a jacuzzi. The bottle costs a whopping $20,000. Just proving what all the money from Tidal subscriptions will be spent on.

2 Performed A Private Concert For Colonel Gaddafi's Entourage

Beyoncé's perfect public image took a huge hit when she received an astounding fee of $1 million to perform for a promoter connected to Colonel Muammar Gaddafi in 2009. She was outed in the press to have received large paydays for brief appearances at parties which were held for the Gaddafi entourage. There was a huge backlash from fans who urged the star to give back the money she had earned.

Colonel Gaddafi was a Libyan leader who would support tribal warfare, terrorism and violated the human rights of Libyan citizens. The Halo singer told press that she had donated all the money to Haiti earthquake relief charities. She also made a statement on her website that detailed she was completely unaware the promoter had connections to Gaddafi. We believe you Bey, thousands wouldn't.

1 The Fight In The Elevator

It was one of the most jaw-dropping moments of 2014 when Beyoncé attended the Met Ball with Jay-Z and her sister, Solange Knowles, and it all ended in a huge fight. The CCTV footage was never intended to be public but was leaked by an anonymous member of staff from the hotel. As soon as the lift doors close, Solange can be seen shouting at Jay-Z then launching a violent attack hitting and kicking the rapper until held back by security.

There was endless speculation over what triggered the fight, including rumours that Jay-Z was having an affair. Beyoncé shockingly stood in silence during her husband's beating and did - well, nothing. Beyoncé finally released a public statement explaining that both her husband and sister were equally to blame for the incident. She said:

"As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred".
