It can be very difficult to accept the death of someone you feel strongly about. It should, therefore, not be surprising that there are so many blogs online claiming celebrities faked their death in order to live out their lives in peace. 10 Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson is a star who had such die-hard fans that they refuse to believe he passed on. The King of Pop died unexpectedly on June 25th, 2009, leaving behind a billion-dollar industry and many rumours surrounding his death. An autopsy was conducted the day after Jackson passed away. However, doctors were unable to establish a cause of death. Craig Harvy, the Los Angeles County Coroner's spokesman, thus announced that further tests had to be conducted. Toxicology tests meant that the world would be kept waiting for a few weeks to find out what actually happened. As times passed, the rumours kept rising, including rumours that he staged his own death. Even today, many of those rumours are still circulating in the form of blogs on the internet.
9 Elvis Presley
Elvis died suddenly at the age of 42. According to his fiancée, during the night of August 16th, 1977, he got up and said he was going to the bathroom to read. When she woke up a few hours later, she noticed the bathroom light was still on. Upon going to check on her fiancé, Ginger Alden found him deceased, slumped on the floor. In 1977, it was suspected that the cause of death was a drug overdose from prescription medication. The public will not really know what happened to the King of Rock and Roll until 2027 when his autopsy will no longer be sealed (Elvis' father sealed the document until the 50th anniversary of his son's death). In 2010, Elvis' personal physician and friend came forward to state he suspected the King actually died of chronic constipation, not cardiac arrhythmia as suspected. The mystery surrounding Elvis' death has fuelled rumours about his still being alive. There is even a Facebook page dedicated to proving he is still alive.
8 Princess Diana of Wales
Lady Diana Spencer became the Princess of Wales upon her marriage to Prince Charles in 1981. Together they had two children, Prince William and Prince Harry, before their divorce in 1996. Princess Diana tragically died succumbing to her injuries from a limousine crash on August 31st, 1997. It is said that the limo crashed due to a drunk driver. Infamous rumours circulated in 2007 declaring that Princess Diana was alive and working at a tabloid newspaper company.
7 Jesse James
Jesse James is a notorious outlaw from the American Old West, most famous for leading the James-Younger gang of outlaws. In the morning of April 3rd, 1882, Jesse James was at home straightening a picture on a wall, when he was shot in the back of the head by Bob Ford (a member of Jesse's gang who was paid by Governor Crittenden of Missouri to bring him down). Even after death, people claimed to see Jesse James wandering the streets. Even stranger than that, however, someone actually claimed to be him and claimed that he faked his own death. Decades after the supposed death of Jesse James, a man by the name of J. Frank Dalton, claimed to be him.
Anastasia was the daughter of Russia's last Tsar, Nicholas II. Nicholas II managed to save his family during the Frist World War by abdicating the thrown and going into exile in the Ural Mountains. However, he and his family, Anastasia included, did not survive the civil war. On July 17th, 1918, the Romanovs were awoken in their slumber, led to a basement and shot by executioners. After Anastasia's death, rumours circulated that the she managed to survive the attack and went into hiding. Years later many women thus claimed to be the Grand Duchess in order to claim her inheritance. Naturally, none of the cases were proven to be true.
5 Kurt Cobain
Kurt Cobain was the lead singer and song writer of the rock band Nirvana. He was found dead in what was an apparent suicide on April 5th, 1994. He left behind a suicide note explaining his self-destructive mentality. A quick search on the web reveals how Cobain still has many die-hard fans who refuse to believe that committed suicide and is still alive and believe or not, still making music today.
4 Amelia Earhart
Decades after her plane went down without a trace, the famous female pilot's disappearance is still shrouded in mystery. Earhart was attempting an around-the-world-flight on June 2nd, 1937 when he Lockheed Electra mysteriously disappeared over the Pacific Ocean. The most expensive air and sea search ever conducted in American history was shortly underway in an attempt to find Earhart and her navigator, Fred Noonan. Over the course of seven decades, numerous theories have appeared claiming to know what happened to the young hero. However, nothing substantial arose. Some conspiracy theorists believe she lived out the rest of her days in New Jersey under a fake identity until 1982.
3 Tupac Shakur
Tupac Shakur, a famous American rapper, was shot four times in the chest during a drive-by shooting on September 7th, 1996 in Las Vegas. He died a few days later on September 14th, of respiratory failure and cardiopulmonary arrest. Shakur was thought to be seen after his death and some still believe that he is alive today.
Conspiracy theorists disbelieve Shakur is dead for seven main reasons. First, conspirators believe no one saw his body be cremated. Second, there is supposedly a picture of him taken a day after he was shot showing he was alive and well. Third, he liked to fuel rumours about his death. Fourth, there are supposed hidden messages in his lyrics. Fifth, there are endless posthumous releases. Sixth, conspirators believe the US government is keeping him captive because he "knows too much". Seventh, some people believe he is hiding in Cuba.
2 Jim Morrison
The famous lead singer of rock group The Doors, Jim Morrison died on July 3rd in 1971. He was found in his bathtub in his apartment in Paris. He supposedly died of natural causes at the age of 27. Naturally, people were asking serious questions. How can a healthy young adult die of "natural causes"? According to Sam Bernett, a close friend of Morisson, the young musician died of a massive heroin overdose in a nightclub bathroom. He claims the death was covered up by drug dealers who moved Morrison's body. However, regardless of how he died, some people still believe that he did not die at all.
1 Adolf Hitler
It was April 30th, 1945. The Allies were facing an imminent victory and of the most notorious evil figures in history committed suicide. Der Fuhrer, hidden underground in a refurbished air-raid bunker, consumed a cyanide pill before shooting himself with a pistol. After Hitler's death rumours circulated that he was still alive. In fact, a book was published in 2014 claiming that Hitler died in South America in 1984, at the ripe-old age of 95. According to author Simoni Renee Guerreiro Dias claimed that the dictator fled to Argentina and Paraguay until finally settling in Mato Grosso to hunt for buried treasure. How would he find this buried treasure? According to Dias, the Vatican allies supposedly supplied him with the map.
