12 Sexiest Blondes Who Can’t Rock Brunette Hair

Via pinterest, popsugar and slyobservations.wordpress.com

They say that blondes have more fun and in the case of these actresses, it’s kind of true.

It should come as no surprise that sometimes women look better with one hair color as opposed to others. In the case of these women, it’s blonde. I mean, the camera loves blondes so they have thrived in Hollywood for decades now. Years before, Jean Harlow, Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly were known for their blonde locks. These women are still revered now as some of the most beautiful to ever be on the big screen and their blonde hair is part of that.

Sure, darker hair looks great on some. Imagine Angelina Jolie without her long, dark hair? She wouldn’t have the same exotic allure as she does with her darker hue. The same can be said about several people in Hollywood. Dark hair can be very alluring so you can understand why these blondes wanted to give it a go. Unfortunately, these ladies look much better with their lighter hair.

Some of these blondes went darker for a role and others went dark because why the hell not? Luckily, they are loaded and can easily pay the best hairdressers in the world to give them their golden blonde locks back.

Most of these women have gone back to their blonde color but nonetheless, they were rocking a darker hue for a little bit. These are the 12 sexiest actresses who went darker and couldn’t really pull off the look.

12. Blake Lively

Blake Lively is arguably one of the hottest actresses in Hollywood. Why wouldn’t she be? With her smile and legs that go on forever, it is easy to see why so many people find her desirable. However, one of the assets that completes Lively’s glowing look is her long, blonde hair.

For the most part, since she has stepped onto the scene after starring in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Lively has rocked her beautiful blonde hair. For her role in Green Lantern, Lively dyed her hair brunette. While we much prefer her with her blonde hair, she did meet her future hubby, Ryan Reynolds, on the set of Green Lantern. I mean, it’d be really hard for Blake Lively to ever really look bad but we just prefer the California Girl with her blonde locks.

11. Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon is best known for her southern charm and blonde locks. She even starred in a movie called Legally Blonde, so it’s safe to say that people identify her with this hair color but it wasn’t until Witherspoon went to the dark that she got an Oscar. She first went dark while playing June Carter in Walk the Line. Yeah, blonde my suit the bubbly presence that she brings to the screen but her brunette hair was what finally won her an Academy Award. Perhaps the change in hair color helped her get more into character…? Well, whatever it was, we’re glad that she went back to blonde shortly after.

10. Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid is a newer name to the celebrity game but wow, is she hot. The supermodel and social media star hasn’t gone unnoticed either. Victoria’s Secret came calling and she walked in the 2015 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The guys also notice the blonde beauty as well, as she had been linked to Joe Jonas in the past and is now dating former One Direction member, Zayn Malik. Basically, she’s really freaking hot.

The California blonde swapped in her light mane for a darker one during Paris Fashion Week. She’s a supermodel so, like, it’s really hard for her to look bad but blonde hair just suits the model much better if we do say so ourselves.

Gwyneth Paltrow hasn’t been a brunette for quite some time. She went to the dark side way back in 1998 for Sliding Doors, in which she played both a blonde and brunette character. She brought the brunette back in 2000’s Bounce.

Paltrow’s golden blonde locks definitely suit her better. She may be a very talented actress but her beauty has undoubtedly helped her launch Goop, her lifestyle and beauty blog. Paltrow’s website doesn’t exactly tell women how to have a perfect head of blonde hair like hers, but it still lets readers in on how the other half lives.

8. Rachel McAdams

Rachel McAdams is a natural brunette, but it better known for her showstopping blonde hair. In 2004, she donned blonde hair in both Mean Girls and The Notebook, two movies that blasted her into Hollywood A-list status. On top of that, it blasted her into the heart of her The Notebook co-star, Ryan Gosling. Basically, if McAdams’ blonde hair is good enough for Gosling, it’s good enough for us. Since then, we have seen McAdams rock red, brunette and even pink hair. Thankfully, she always goes back to her beautiful blonde color.

7. Scarlett Johansson

Like Rachel McAdams, Scarlett Johansson has been just about every single hair color in the book. Also like McAdams, Scar Jo is a natural brunette. Thankfully, she dyes her hair blonde because her beautiful blonde hair paired with her, uh, assets make her one of Hollywood’s hottest bombshells. She’s also been a redhead for her role of Black Widow. We’re not saying that Scarlett Johansson doesn’t look sexy in her Black Widow costume. We’re just saying that blonde suits her best, as she looks strikingly like Marilyn Monroe. Who wouldn’t want to look like Hollywood’s most infamous blonde bombshell?

6. Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz has been a famous actress for quiet some time now. She is the go-to laid-back California girl and her blonde hair is part of that package. In fact, she was cast as the blonde in the Charlie’s Angels films. Diaz has gone on to star in blockbuster after blockbuster. In almost every film she’s been in, Diaz has rocked blonde hair, but back in 2006, she tried out a darker hue, but it is just not working for her. We have to say that her lighter look definitely compliments her persona much better.

5. Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff rose to fame at a young age playing Lizzie McGuire on the Disney show named after her character. Duff donned her blonde hair while on Lizzie McGuire and there was even a tiny cartoon version of herself on the show, also with blonde hair. Back in 2011, Duff went dark, likely to try to separate herself from her younger looks. It’s definitely hard for children stars to transition into becoming adult actors. Though this move may have helped Duff make the transition, we’re glad she transitioned back to her blonde hair.

Marilyn Monroe may be one of the most iconic blonde actresses to ever work in Hollywood. She rose to fame by playing the stereotypical dumb blondes, proving that she was actually a very intelligent to be cashing in on such a stereotype.

When Marilyn first came to Hollywood, she was just a young, brunette actress. After dying her hair blonde, the bombshell found huge success. Sure, Marilyn was beautiful no matter what but the Some Like It Hot actress may have never found the outlandish fame that she did if it weren’t for her blonde hair.

3. Jessica Simpson

Simpson has since expanded her career into several different ventures. Simpson starred in the realty television show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica with her husband at the time, Nick Lachey. She even expanded to acting in films and a clothing line. The blonde southern belle can seemingly do anything, except pull off brunette hair. She went brunette in 2007 and has gone back to darker hues a few times since. Thankfully, she always goes back to the blonde look for which she is known.

The beautiful 25-year-old actress, Ashley Benson, is best known for her role on Pretty Little Liars and for the film Spring Breakers. The young actress is known for her blonde locks, and generally has to keep her hair blonde due to her role on Pretty Little Liars. Thank goodness for that because it makes her look amazing. In 2015, Benson debuted some darker hair in a photoshoot for Flaunt. While the darker hair looks a bit edgier, the lighter hue looks much better on her.

1. Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence is often seen on the red carpets with her signature blonde hair but has dyed her hair a handful of darker hues for the roles she’s most well known. In The Hunger Games, her character Katniss Everdeen has long, dark brown hair. Her hair was even darker in Silver Linings Playbook, for which she won her Oscar. While the powerhouse actress didn’t necessarily look bad in The Hunger Games series or Silver Lining Playbook, she looks her best with blonde hair, even if she is tripping up a flight of stairs on her way to get her Oscar.
