10 "Over The Hill" Celebs Who Used to be Unbelievably Hot

We’ve all had our celebrity crushes. For me, it was any and all members of New Kids on the Block, and Dylan and Brandon from 90210. Especially Brandon. My dad was always irritated by the damage I did to my bedroom walls with  the thumbtacks and tape used to display my life-size posters of Jason Priestley and Donnie Wahlberg. Before my generation, it was Donny Osmond; after, it was Robert Pattinson and the One Direction fellas.

Celebs, for the most part, are beautiful human specimens. Those eyes, those abs, those boobs, that smile… Hollywood has a great talent for showcasing and packaging sexy people and bringing them into our lives via the small or big screens. And we thank them for it. There’s nothing better than gazing at a gorgeous woman or man—except for maybe watching them fall from grace.

Beauty is fleeting, as they say, and while many celebrities appear to get better with age (Halle Berry comes to mind), many celebs have lost those bangin’ bods or sweet faces for one reason or another. Substance abuse, poor plastic surgery, or the simple process of aging can wreak havoc on their once-gorgeous money makers. Here, we’ve gathered the top 10 celebrities that used to define hotness.

10 Carrie Fisher

Via reddit.com

Princess Leia will go down in history as one of the sexiest characters of all time. That metal bikini is still every man’s fantasy and it has been decades since Carrie Fisher wore it in Star Wars. Even Ross Geller was able to convince Rachel Green to don the gold get-up to fulfill a fantasy he had since he was a teen (if you don't know who these people are, brush up on your Friends trivia). Sure, part of the allure for men was the “slave” fantasy, but that bikini was at the heart of it all. Even Jabba the Hutt couldn’t distract us from that hot bod. Today, Carrie Fisher is still a successful, attractive woman, with a killer sense of humour, but the word “hot” isn’t thrown around as often as it used to be.

9 Mel Gibson

Via famousface.us

In 1985, Mel Gibson was the very first “Sexiest Man Alive” who graced the cover of People magazine. He was 29 years old and the object of the collective desire of every woman on earth (and some men, too). After that came Lethal Weapon, Bird on a Wire and Braveheart. He was unstoppable. And then he opened his mouth. Mel is still attractive now, but it’s buried under a bad attitude, drunken rants and homophobic, racial and anti-Semitic comments. It isn’t his aging or poor plastic surgery that has hurt his “hotness,” it’s his personality. He’ll never be that leading man again, and he only has himself to blame.

8 Lindsay Lohan

It's hard to think of her as being over the hill, but in Lindsay Lohan's case, the hill was very steep. She started out as an adorable Disney kid, warming hearts with her freckle-faced innocence. After movies like The Parent Trap and Freaky Friday, the general consensus was that this cute, all-American sweetheart was the next big thing. Then came Mean Girls, where she proved her acting chops and became known as “hot.”  The success led her to some hard-partying years, filled with DUIs, arrests, and more rehab stints than career opportunities. Her wild ways took their toll. The 28-year-old looks closer to 38 and her blockbuster days appear to be behind her. The thing is, she truly is a talented actress. A docu-series called Lindsay (on Oprah's O network) did little to gain favour of fans. She came across as spoiled and irresponsible. Here’s hoping she can turn things around and is given the chance to show off her talents once again.

7 Betty White

Don’t get us wrong; Betty White is still a looker. The 92-year-old Golden Girl still has a killer smile, dazzling eyes and a sense of humour to match. She continues to break hearts and has plenty of game as Elka in Hot in Cleveland, but in all honesty, it is tough to call a woman of that age “hot.” Say it out loud; it just doesn't feel right, does it? But back in the day (try 1942), Betty White was beyond knock-out status – even before her days on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. She was a classic beauty (and still is!).

5 Axl Rose

In the ‘80s, Axl rocked harder than just about anyone. The baby-faced lead singer of Guns N' Roses helped his band sell over 80 million albums worldwide. Sure, he was Mick Jagger skinny, but that didn’t stop the ladies from loving those signature dance moves. Even wearing his own band shirt and that headband that seemed permanently fixed to his forehead didn’t turn the girls off. Guns N' Roses was at the top of their game back then, with hits like "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "November Rain," but when they fell apart, so did Axl’s looks. It began with the awful cornrows and went from there. Now, the singer is a shadow of his old self. A much larger shadow. Axl was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 as part of Guns N Roses, but declined the invitation and asked to be removed from the Hall of Fame. Probably not the smartest move on his part.

4 Tara Reid

Via fanpop.com

Back in the ‘90s, Tara Reid was the adorably sexy girl from American Pie. Wearing cardigan sweater sets and a bow in her hair, she was cute, sweet, and yet hot. When she returned in American Pie 2, she was even sexier. The knitwear was exchanged for tight jeans, t-shirts and bikinis. Tara’s celeb status helped her get on all the top guest lists and she became a Hollywood party girl. After a lot of drinking, some embarrassing red carpet moments (she perfected the "nip slip"), and a botched liposuction/boob job, Tara fell off the radar. Surprisingly, her role in Sharknado and Sharknado 2 may have put her on the map once again. She’s looking better than she has in years and her former "hot" status may not be completely out of reach.

3 Meg Ryan

Via chichiallen.blogspot.com

Meg Ryan was the definition of cute. She was America’s sweetheart (before Sandra Bullock came along) and she made a name for herself doing romantic comedies, mainly. Men were subjected to her bubbly personality during movie date nights for years. When Harry Met Sally kicked it all off with that infamous orgasm scene. Then came Sleepless in Seattle, City of Angels and You’ve Got Mail. And you couldn't help but fall in love with her adorable personality with an angelic face to match. Now it’s been years since she had a hit on her hands. This could be attributed to some botched plastic surgery that has left her once alluring lips looking just plain fake and downright odd. Sure, for 53, the woman doesn't look half bad, but her glory days are definitely behind her.

2 Lark Voorhies

Via lipstickalley.com

If that name doesn’t ring a bell, perhaps the name Lisa Turtle will. Lark played cute, fashion-obsessed Lisa on Saved by the Bell. She was trendy, popular and pretty. Some of the Saved by The Bell cast has gotten hotter with age (Mark Paul Gosselaar and Tiffany Theissen, for example); unfortunately this is not the case with Lark. The changes in her face are quite confusing and it’s difficult to tell if it is from plastic surgery gone wrong, or lack of skill when it comes to applying makeup. The one feather in her cap is that she hasn't recently been arrested for stabbing someone, like ex co-star Dustin Diamond (our old pal, Screech).

1 Mickey Rourke

Via kultureklash.com

If you sit back and think of the sexiest movies of all time, there’s an excellent chance that 9 ½ Weeks is near the top of the list. The scene in which Mickey feeds Kim Basinger cherries, strawberries and jalapeno peppers, then covers her in honey, is so erotic that I got all hot and bothered just watching it for… “research.”  (Although, I wouldn't recommend pouring honey all over yourself. It looks good, but you don't want any sticky situations..."down there.") A botched facelift left poor Mickey nearly unrecognizable. He is lucky though; unlike many actresses who are dumped by Hollywood post-cosmetic surgery, Mickey is still a successful working actor, appearing in films such as Sin City and Iron Man 2. Plus, he was nominated for a best actor Oscar in 2009 for his role in The Wrestler.
