“We must ask for the wealthy to pay a little bit more in taxes. And by the way, we’ve tried that before. A guy named Bill Clinton did it. We created 23 million new jobs, turned a deficit into a surplus, and rich people did just fine. We created a lot of millionaires. And you know, there are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me – because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t – look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own.“
Billionaires Against President Barack Obama:
This quote came from a speech made by the President of the United States, Mr. Barack Obama. Mr. Obama has cut a polarizing figure in America. He has been called a populist, liberal, leftist, demagogue, anti industry, pro central planning and anti banking. The wealthy, in particular, has taken a dislike for the President because of his repeated calls to raise the tax rate of the upper class.
As a result, a lot of billionaires have practically lined up together to campaign against Mr. Obama. And in a close election marked by an increasingly vile campaign between the President and the Republican Party’s standard-bearer Mr. Mitt Romney, will the money and support of these billionaires supply the difference?
Here is an A to Z membership listing of the billionaires’ empire attempting to strike back:
14 Mr. Sheldon Adelson
Chairman of Las Vegas Sands
Mr. Adelson took issue with Mr. Obama for telling CEOs whose companies are receiving bailouts to stop taking expensive trips to Las Vegas. Mr. Adelson claims that 200,000 people were hurt as a result of that speech. He is putting his money where his mouth is by allotting $100 million to unseat the President. He expressed alarm for America’s descent into socialism under the Obama administration.
13 Mr. Leon Cooperman
Chairman of Omega Advisors
Mr. Cooperman is a leading light of the anti-Obama movement. His grievance against the President is for the latter’s anti capitalist rhetoric.
12 Mr. Rich DeVos
Co-Founder of Amway
Mr. DeVos has been a long time fixture of the conservative right wing. He expressed fears of the administration’s policies, proclaiming that the President “a little scary to me.”
11 B. Wayne Hughes
Chairman of Public Storage
Mr. Hughes claims that the administration’s policies have practically made him an enemy of the state after years of living his whole life doing what he thought was right. He felt the President is leaning too much to the left, even as he feels victimized for Mr. Obama’s moves to increase the tax rate of the upper class.
10 Mr. Charles Koch
Chief Executive Officer of Koch Industries, Inc.
Mr. Koch has always been an opponent of Mr. Obama. He and his brother David, the Executive Vice President of Koch Industries, Inc, have repeatedly warned against the President’s economic and fiscal policies. His disdain against Mr. Obama reached its height last year when he appeared to compare the President with the Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
9 Mr. Kenneth Langone
Founder of Home Depot
Mr. Langone has always warned people that Mr. Obama and his policies are tearing apart the country. A regular donor of conservative causes, Mr. Langone even described the President as unpresidential, petulant and divisive.
8 Mr. Bernard Marcus
Co-Founder of Home Depot
A conservative through and through, Mr. Marcus had previously called the protesters of the Occupy Wall Street movement as imbeciles. He warned the country in an interview over national television that if President Obama is elected for another four-year term, it would bring gloom and despair.
7 Mr. Joe Ricketts
Owner of the Chicago Cubs baseball team
Mr. Ricketts has been involved in some organized actions to depict the President in a negative light. He once considered funding an advertising campaign that described the President as a “metrosexual, black Abe Lincoln.” Though he eventually pulled out of that campaign, he then turned to financing a documentary movie that features Mr. Obama’s anti colonial views. He also said in a 2010 commencement address to graduates of Bellevue University in Nebraska that because of President Obama and his policies, “Our Republic is under assault from our government.”
6 Mr. Stephen Schwarzman
Chief Executive Officer of the Blackstone Group
Mr. Schwarzman antipathy towards the President probably went a little too far a couple of years ago. In an interview with an international weekly magazine, he likened the President’s plan to raise taxes on Wall Street to the Nazi invasion of Poland that started the Second World War. He later apologized for his comments.
5 Mr. and Mrs. David and Jackie Siegel
Chief Executive Officer of Westgate Resorts
Mr. Siegel sent an email to all his employees in the timesharing giant Westgate Resorts telling them to vote for Mr. Obama’s rival, Mitt Romney. He warned the employees they could lose their jobs if the President gets re-elected. He vowed that if any new taxes are levied on him or his company, he will be forced to reduce the size of Westgate Resorts.
4 Mr. Harold Simmons
Owner of Contran Corporation
Mr. Simmons is the second largest billionaire donor to the Republican Party’s presidential election campaign. He is also one of its most outspoken, accusing Mr. Obama of trying to eliminate free enterprise in the United States. He warned that the President is the most dangerous American alive.
3 Mr. Donald Trump
President of The Trump Organization
One of the more vocal opponents of President Obama, Mr. Trump would like nothing more than to tell the President “You’re fired!”
2 Mr. Steve Wynn
Chief Executive Officer of Wynn Resorts
Mr. Wynn accuses Mr. Obama of ignorance on how to run the economy. He also blasted the President for inducing class warfare among the people.
1 Mr. Mortimer Zuckerman
Owner of the New York Daily News
Mr. Zuckerman supported the President in the 2008 elections against the Republican Party’s Mr. John McCain. He has since been left disappointed, even saying that “I long for a triple A president to run a triple A country.”
