When the rich and famous have kids, it’s something akin to a national celebration and we’re inevitably drawn in by scandalous reports of obscenely expensive tyke-sized luxuries. The kids on this list are rich beyond anyone’s wildest dreams before they even start teething. While these babies are busy learning basic reading and math skills, their parents were working on securing the brightest future possible for their tots. For these lucky youngsters, millions of dollars have been secured in trusts and – in many cases – these kids are just waiting in the wings to reap the benefit of their parents’ plentiful cash and impressive portfolios.
These five richest kids under five years old are some of the most famous, sheltered and protected kids in the world. They have their own team of nannies, tutors and bodyguards that travel with them all over the world, with passports more colorful than that of even the most well-travelled average adult. They’ve been born into the possibility of a life most people can only dream of, and parents with the desire – and the means – to spoil them with the finer things in life.
For the mere mortals among us, we’ll have to settle for watching these kids grow up in the blinding light of the media… And maybe even pick up a few fashion tips from the more well-dressed toddlers.
5. Valentina Paloma Pinault: A five-year-old with a $12 million home to her name
At five years old, Valentina is already living a charmed life thanks to her glamorous mother – Hollywood darling, Salma Hayek – and her father Francois-Henri Pinault, her a luxury goods mogul. Valentina is already proving to be more than just a rich little girl, fluently speaking three languages by the age of three. Mom Salma Hayek has starred in over 40 movies and has an estimated net worth of $85 million. Dad Francois Pinault is the CEO of KERING – the company worth an estimated $15 billion with a remarkable acquisition portfolio including Gucci, Yves St. Laurent and Bottega Venata. It’s certainly no surprise, then, that Valentina has already adopted her parents’ lavish lifestyle.
The little tot has already attended red carpet Hollywood events with her mom and has vacationed in exclusive resorts in St. Barts. To keep up with her lifestyle, Valentina also has a wardrobe of exclusive luxury pieces custom-made for her.
Valentina might just be the youngest child with a piece of prime real estate to call her own. Her father purchased a $12 million property in Los Angeles, which is currently being held in a trust to which he adds an additional $50,000 per month.
4. Knox and Vivienne Jolie Pitt: Superstar twin toddlers worth a combined $67.5 million
Paternal twins Knox and Vivienne were born to two enviably beautiful and ridiculously richest parents. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt welcomed the twins on July 12, 2008 and they were had barely witness the light of day before they were earning millions. The rights to publish the first photos of Knox and Vivienne were purchased by People magazine and Hello! for $14 million – but the twins’ philanthropic parents donated all of this to charity.
The twins have four older siblings, three of whom were adopted by the power couple. All six kids are expected to share $270 million (and counting) in inheritance, which means that the twin siblings will be entitled to approximately $34 million each. The kids also stand to inherit prized property throughout the world, including a $3.5 million home in the French Quarter of New Orleans, a £10 million mansion in Whornes Place in England and their sprawling Loz Feliz home in California.
Five year old Vivienne is already following in the footsteps of her Thespian parents, appearing as the young Princess Aurora in Disney’s ‘Maleficent’, starring mother Angelina Jolie as the misunderstood villain. Vivienne earned $3,000 per week plus a $60 per day allowance on her debut film, scheduled to be released in 2014.
3. Dannielynn Hope Marshall Birkhead: The surprise millionaire with $49million
Dannielynn had a tragic start in life when her mother – Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith – passed away in 2007, just months after her older brother died. It wasn’t a smooth run for her biological father, either, who had to file a lawsuit against her mother and her mother’s partner to establish that she was his daughter.
Things are starting to look up though. At six years old, Dannielynn stands to inherit up to $49 million as the sole heir to her Anna Nicole Smith’s estate (which includes a claim to part of her ex-husband’s fortune).
In 1994, Anna Nicole Smith famously married oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II- his 89 years in stark contrast to her 26. Marshall died a year after their marriage and although she was not included in his will, she took his estate to court arguing that she was promised a $200 million inheritance before he died.
The court battle for Anna Nicole’s share of the Marshall fortunestill continues. A Californian judge recently said that Dannielynn is entitled to sanctions against the Marshall estate for their underhanded tactics during the proceedings.
2. Blue Ivy Carter:The one-year-old with a $1 million nursery at the Barclays Center
The first child of music and media tycoons Jay-Z and Beyoncé won’t ever have to work hard to enjoy the finer things in life, with the Carter power couple’s wealth growing as fast as their baby girl. Blue Ivy’s parents have a combined net worth estimated at over $700 million, $95 million of which was earned in the last 12 months alone. Even before Blue Ivy was born, her parents were already spending millions on ensuring her comfort and security. Mr. and Mrs. Carter paid $1.3 million to renovate a private wing at Lenox Hill for the birth of their daughter on January 7, 2012.
Blue Ivy’s living quarters leave little to be desired. She sleeps on a $20,000 crib and has her own nursery at the Barclays Center, which her daddy rents for $1 million per year. She eats on a $16,000 Swarovski-lined high chair and already has a closet full of designer clothes to rival her mother’s. Blue Ivy is an international jetsetter, too, vacationing in St. Barts, Stomboli in Italy, and Miami- to name but a few of her choice holiday destinations.
For her first birthday, Blue Ivy received an $80,000 diamond encrusted Barbie doll at her $200,000 birthday party at the Barclays Center. And what can you expect at a kids’ party costing hundreds of thousands of dollars? A $2,400 cake, $95,000 in floral décor and $30,000 in party bags for Blue Ivy’s friends.
1. Prince George Alexander Louis:The richest baby in the world with an estimated $1 billion net worth
Little Prince George is the third Royal in line to inherit the British throne, but that’s not the only thing he’s expected to inherit. Prince George also stands to inherit at least $1 billion in royal assets, including a multi-million property portfolio – and that’s just from his father’s side of the family! Prince George’s mother, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, comes from a middle class family who own some high-value properties.
As you might expect, there are plenty of perks to being part of the world’s most famous royal family. The British taxpayers subsidize the family’s lifestyle, ensuring that the little Prince won’t have to worry about employment to secure his finances. As the third in line to the British throne, Prince George stands to inherit the “Crown Estate” – a real estate portfolio currently valued at £7 billion with properties dating as far back as the 11th century. The Crown Estate is a key source of income for the royal family. In 2012 alone, the revenue from the Crown Estate was estimated to exceed $400 million.
Not bad for a three month old baby; the richest child in the world under a year old and the darling infant of Britain!
