Trippie Redd has been arrested for assault twice in the past two weeks.
In case you’ve never heard of the guy, Michael Lamar White IV (or Trippie Redd, as he goes by on stage) is an American rapper and singer. He’s best known for his song "Dark Knight Dummo,” which peaked at 72 on Billboard’s top 100 list.
And he’s also getting quite the rap sheet after his second arrest in as many weeks for assault.
At the end of May, Redd was in Cobb County, Atlanta, Georgia, when he made a pass at the wrong girl. Local rapper FDM Grady was with his girlfriend when Redd disrespected her. This got Grady riled enough to actually draw a gun, but cooler heads prevailed and the two decided to settle their differences with a good old-fashioned fist fight in the street.
Only that’s now how it went down. Grady later said he was jumped by Redd, his friend Lil Wop, and two others just as soon as he stepped out of the club. He’d later tell his story where it got picked up by TMZ.
Just note that there’s quite a bit of profanity in the video. After all, he’s a rapper that just got beat up.
Redd was charged with simple battery, fighting, and trespassing.
As for the current arrest, we don’t have a whole lot to go on in terms of details. TMZ managed to get the arrest report which says he was arrested early Tuesday morning and then taken to Fulton County Jail for booking. He should be processed sometime today which means more court documents and possibly more details.
According to the report, Redd was arrested for “aggravated assault and battery causing substantial physical harm.” Exactly how much harm and to whom remains unknown, but if it was half as much damage as done to FDM Grady it would indeed have been substantial.
Stay tuned as more details emerge from this arrest, and quite probably more arrests in the future at this rate.
