Designer Tommy Hilfiger is a big fan of model Gigi Hadid. But, when he recently praised the 23-year-old, he also threw shade on models he worked with back in the day. Hilfiger has worked with a plethora of supermodels in his career, but in his opinion, most of them had a lot of beauty and no brains.
“Gigi is very, very smart. She’s got her head on her shoulders. If she thinks it’s the right thing to do, then it’s the right thing to do. Don’t ever underestimate Gigi’s intelligence...She’s like another one of my daughters, and I think she’s incredibly intelligent—not only beautiful. Years ago, models were beautiful, but not too smart. She’s on another level,” said Hilfiger.
Over the years, Hilfiger worked with models like Gisele, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Adriana Lima, Kate Moss, and Iman.
As for Hadid, she and Malik seem to be an item once again after cameras caught them in the middle of a passionate kiss while walking in New York City this past weekend. The couple went through a very public breakup in mid-March, but they appear to be on again after strolling hand-in-hand through a SoHo neighborhood.
Hadid appeared to be delighted—and a bit shy—during the make-out session as she leaned up against a brick wall while Malik aggressively pushed up under her. It seemed that they thought they were alone and that no one was looking even though they were in the middle of a street in broad daylight.
The Tommy Hilfiger model looked stylish in a black sweater and blazer, a pair of ripped jeans, and leopard print booties. She accessorized with a black satchel purse and small, oval-shaped sunglasses, and pulled her long blonde hair back in a hair tie.
Malik debuted a new, elaborate skull tattoo, and wore a black puffy jacket over a red Resort Corps hoodie.
The couple sparked reconciliation rumors last week when cameras spotted the Dusk Till Dawn singer headed to Hadid’s apartment. That sighting came just after she “liked” a video Malik posted plugging his new record.
At the time of their split, Malik tweeted, “Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and a friend.”
Things might be going well for Hadid in her personal life, but she did recently face some controversy professionally. At a meet-and-greet at a Macy’s in New York City’s Herald Square, a woman who pretended to be a fan approached her, and when Hadid tried to reach out and hug her, the woman showed her something on her phone and then pulled out a sign that read, “Gigi Kills.”
Then, another woman approached her with a sign that read, “Fur Kills.”
The two protesters apparently had an issue with Gigi Hadid’s history of wearing fur.
