The trailer for Mission: Impossible: Fallout was released and it’s clear that the franchise is going big with this movie.
The Mission: Impossible series already covers many legendary stories. The trailer for the sixth film features many great stunts, many of which Tom Cruise takes pride in doing (as well as the one that gave him a broken ankle!).
The first five seconds capture the audience’s attention with chase scenes and dramatic falling events. The world is now dealing with the fallout of an IMF mission that ended badly, yet Ethan Hunt’s loyalty to the CIA is now in question. His mission to save the world from the global catastrophe is impossible not only because of the time-restraint and assassins who want him dead; but also because of the chase from his former allies. Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Michelle Monaghan, Alec Baldwin, and Sean Harris all returned to play their roles from the previous films. Superman actor Henry Cavill, Wes Bentley, Vanessa Kirby, Sian Brooke, and Angela Bassett will also join the company.
The stunts were undoubtedly breathtaking! And everyone knows that Tom Cruise enjoys doing his own stunts. The 55-year-old actor proves to everyone that he doesn’t refrain from actions because of his age. In fact, his performance was way beyond what some actors from the younger generation can ever pull off. News has leaked that Cruise broke his ankle while shooting, which resulted in a delay in the filming process. On the Graham Norton show in January, the actor brought some of the break-down footage detailing how the accident happened. Many stunts, as well as the helicopter stunt, are real. A behind-the-scenes video was shared to the world, detailing all the setups, all the actions and safety measures that had to be taken. Cruise’s ability to perform his own stunts help set the Mission Impossible films apart visually. Aside from making for good PR, directors also have more freedom in editing and exploring the characters as they don’t have to cut around stuntmen and effective shots.
Cavil’s hairy face was also shown in the trailer. He had a contract which clearly stated that he had to grow a real mustache for this project as “a fake mustache would perhaps have been blown off in this situation.” Cavil discussed this subject in an interview. His mustache was an issue because Justice League re-shoot was an extensive project, and Superman was definitely not supposed to have such a hairy face! Cavill couldn’t shave his mustache, which led to the horrific result of the special effects team reconstructing Superman’s face.
Mission: Impossible – Fallout will be released in theaters on July 27, 2018.
