Entertainment is a ludicrous industry no matter what branch of it you look at. And in a world full of franchises, reboots, and sequels, you walk in with certain expectations. Big blockbusters are a huge part of our culture, yet they actually don’t yield the highest grossing actors. In fact, Samuel L. Jackson doesn’t even make the list. Blasphemy!

2. Tyler Perry - Net Worth $600 Million

Get ready for some fun facts. So Tyler Perry didn't really set out to be an actor, writer, director, etc., it just kind of happened. While he was working an office job in 1991, Perry saw an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show discussing the therapeutic effects of writing. It inspired his creative streak and he wrote out his experiences in a series of letters. Those letters became the play I Know I've Changed, but the play failed to attract an audience despite tackling aspects of domestic abuse. After the failure, he wound up living on the streets and taking various odd jobs. But he learned, he didn't stop, and a second chance 1998 saw him with a sold-out play and valuable experience under his belt.

Perry went on to create the character Madea, with Diary of a Mad Black Woman debuting in 2005. Despite a 16% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film more than made up for its tiny budget and launched a series still going strong today. He bought his own studio, Tyler Perry Studios, in 2006 that produces films, plays, and television. Fun fact: The Walking Dead uses the space to film scenes set in The Kingdom.

1. Oprah Winfrey - Net Worth $3.2 Billion

We all feel like winners when Oprah’s in the house. This one was unexpected, but when you think about it? Totally makes sense.

Oprah Winfrey’s big acting break was as Sofia in The Color Purple and was nominated for her performance by both the Oscars and the Golden Globes. And she only went up from there. The Oprah Winfrey Show ran from 1986 to 2011, which became one of (if not) the highest rated television talk shows ever. In 1994, she was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame. Reaching godtier levels of influence, she successfully launched her own TV channel OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network and proved herself a powerful political force during President Obama’s 2008 primary. And as we all know, she has a huge philanthropy network.

Her most recent role was as Mrs. Which in Disney’s adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time. Yes Oprah, we will be warriors. But we can’t all be warriors worth $3.2 billion. Goals?
