Sorry, not sorry! Miley Cyrus takes back her apology years later after her controversial 2008 Vanity Fair photos.
Miley Cyrus is no longer sorry, and we don’t blame her! The ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer is taking back her apology nearly a decade later that was deemed too “scandalous” for the then 15-year-old. If you aren’t too sure what we’re talking about, Miley Cyrus posed for Vanity Fair in 2008 and was photographed by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.
The singer posed wearing nothing but a white silk sheet to her body, and people weren’t happy with what they were seeing. Cyrus made it clear she had no remorse for the shoot and took to Twitter to say it loud enough for the people in the back. “IM NOT SORRY,” Cyrus captioned her tweet this past Sunday, April 29, 2018.
The tweet followed an image featuring the front page of the April 28, 2008 edition of the New York Post with the headline “Miley’s Shame” and an article about her apology. Cyrus didn’t stop there, she also added in an “F--- YOU #10yearsago”, she wrote in her tweet. Miley isn’t having any of it! The New York Post wasn’t the only article to have mixed feelings about the Vanity Fair cover, many people were uncomfortable with the shoot, declaring it inappropriate for someone of her age at the time.
With such reactions, Miley Cyrus, who was then still a Disney Channel star, issued out an apology exclusively to PEOPLE Magazine in 2008, saying she was “embarrassed” regarding the photos. “My goal in my music and my acting is always to make people happy. For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with Annie”, Cyrus said. “I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be “artistic” and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed”, Miley admitted.
The singer also mentioned how she was truly sorry if she disappointed any of her fans, and “never intended for any of this to happen”. Now that Miley has had a decade to process all this, she is taking it back! Cyrus revealed she is no longer sorry regarding the photo-shoot, and rightfully so! Kudos to Miley for speaking out and getting her true feelings across.
