Lil Nas X's 'Old Town Road' is dominating charts around the world right now, and the singer recently revealed its lyrics have a surprisingly deep meaning.
No matter how many people try to deny it, climate change is real and it is happening all around us. It is changing our way of life in a variety of ways and if we don't attempt to stop it, or at least slow it down, the human race and the rest of the animals we share this planet with could well be in serious jeopardy.
The good news is even though people continue to bury their head in the sand when it comes to climate change, more and more people are doing the exact opposite. What society needs is for major companies and corporations to do their part and that's happening. A few unexpected mentions in mainstream media could do a world of good too.
Turns out a mainstream mention happened recently and no one really noticed. Well, some people have claimed they did, but we don't believe them. Lil Nas X wrote on Twitter that a line from his hit song 'Old Town Road' is a reference to the issues surrounding climate change. "When I said 'I got the horses in the back' it was in reference to reversing the ongoing climate change," the artist tweeted this weekend.
when i said “i got the horses in the back” it was in reference to reversing the ongoing climate change, water pollution, and catastrophic political climate we are witnessing in these trying times.— nope (@LilNasX) June 8, 2019
That's all well and good, but we're not entirely sure what he means. Does Lil Nas X never leave the house without some horses in tow? And whenever he gets the chance, he ditches the car and hops atop his trusty steed? Probably not. Also, as you can see if you work your way through the comments below the tweet, fans of the song believe more of its lyrics are direct links to other aspects of climate change.
We don't want to be skeptics here, but the next tweet from Lil Nas X after the one above simply reads "poop." So yeah, not quite as insightful. Never the less, if people believe the singer, this revelation could have quite the impact. Not only is the track incredibly popular in the US, but it has also topped the charts in 16 countries around the world.
