Kylie Jenner may have just cost Snapchat nearly $1.3 billion!
We all knew the Kardashians were able to persuade their fans to buy their products and watch their show, but who knew they’d be able to shape the fate of a social media platform with the simple push of a button.
Kylie Jenner took to Twitter to post her thoughts on her Snapchat use and could have just cost the app $1.3 billion. That’s a pretty hefty amount if you ask us, but as it turns out, Jenner is not using Snapchat all that much anymore. Her Tweet later turned into a market panic, as she expressed her disdain for the newest app update and lack of use saying: “Sooo does anyone else not open Snapchat anymore? Or it just me…ugh, this is so sad”, the star wrote.
The Tweet went public on Feb. 21, 2018 and caused shares in Snapchat parent company Snap to fall as much as 8.5 percent, and it closing down by an alarming six percent at the end of last Thursday.
Jenner may have gotten news of the platforms fall, considering she later tweeted about her affection for Snapchat, referring to it as “my first love.” Although the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star followed up by confessing her admiration for the app, it wasn’t enough to save it from plummeting even farther.
If that wasn’t a big enough hit for the social media app, they have been under fire for their recent update, which sent users into a rage, ultimately leading to a petition that gained more than 1.2 million signatures.
The reality star has yet to comment about the situation any further, but TMZ tried to get some info out of Kanye West and Kourtney Kardashian this past weekend after they went to see Black Panther. Although TMZ tried, the two had nothing to add to the current situation.
Jenner, who just welcomed baby girl Stormi, is handling both motherhood and apparently the New York Stock Exchange too! We expect Snapchat to bounce back just fine, but we are stunned to see the true power this family holds. Let’s just hope we all stay in the good graces of Kylie Jenner.
