Back in 2013, Kanye started Donda House with fellow rapper Rhymefest and educator Donnie Smith. The charity is named after Kanye’s mother, Dr. Donda West, and helps disadvantaged youths collaborate with real artists in the music and entertainment industries. It’s become a staple of Chicago’s Southside, and one which Kanye has spoken for many times before.
However, Rhymefest recently accused Kanye of abandoning the charity and even reached out to Drake to take his place.
This did not sit well with Kim, who immediately came to her man’s defense. "You have the audacity to use Kanye's mom's name to try to shed a negative light on Kanye,” Kardashian fired back on Twitter, adding "you're over leveraging Kanye's name & asked Kanye to donate to u so stop w your fake community politics and lies. Truth is you haven't been able to sustain the foundation."
You better believe I will make it my mission to take Donda’s House from you and let my children run it the way it should be run! @RHYMEFEST— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) May 26, 2018
Oh and lastly your flight cancelled to Wyoming. You thought you were really worthy to be on this album 😂😂😂— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) May 26, 2018
In later tweets, Kim accused Rhymefest of merely being upset for not being featured on Kanye’s upcoming album.
Rhymefest soon issued a longer response denying Kim’s accusation of sour grapes. He instead stated that Kanye reached out to him for assistance on his latest album and not the other way around. He then asked Kim to attend local auditions next week to see all the good the Donda House performed for the community.
Kim recently took to her own Twitter account to inform all her Twitter followers of the Donda House backstory. She admitted that Kanye did, in fact, relinquish control of the charity to Rhymefest after suffering from “personal financial issues” with no strings attached. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star went on to comment how it made no sense for Rhymefest to complain about Kanye’s lack of involvement after wanting to take the reins from him in the first place.
Kanye and Donda started a charity called Loop Dreams. When Donda passed, they changed the name to Donda’s House. Kanye paid Rhymefest a salary to run it.— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) May 27, 2018
After several years of lack of performance from the organization and Kanye going through personal financial issues, he could no longer fund salaries. Rhymefest asked to take it over and Kanye agreed with no financial strings attached.— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) May 27, 2018
Kanye gave his “friend” an opportunity to run an organization on his own. So now that Kanye is being publicly shamed for not being involved makes no sense and, at this exact time, just seems very calculated.— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) May 27, 2018
Soon after Rhymefest issued his reply to Kardashian’s tweets, Donda House released an official statement on their Instagram account stating that the current feud has forced them to change their name.
So far there has been no response from Kanye who continues recording in Wyoming for his upcoming album.
