Kevin Hart Suffered Three Spinal Fractures In Labor Day Car Crash

Popular comedian Kevin Hart is reportedly going through a painful recovery period after being involved in a bad car crash on Labor Day.

According to TMZ, the Hollywood star suffered three fractures to his spine which have since been repaired by doctors.

The outlet says sources close to Hart have told them that the Sunday night operation involved fusing the fractures, with two of them in his spine and the other in the lumbar. The procedure is said to have been a success but the actor and comedian is still in lots of pain and is heavily medicated as a result.

Kevin is quite fortunate, considering the extent of the damage to the car he was in. Also, lumbar fractures can cause victims to have difficulty walking or worse: paralysis of the arms or legs. The Jumanji star is expected to make a full recovery but it will take him lots of time and therapy.

The 40-year-old is set for months of physical rehabilitation and sources say that the process will definitely impact his jam-packed schedule. He had only just gotten back to the US after vacationing in the lovely Caribbean island of St. Lucia, where he celebrated his third wedding anniversary along with his wife Eniko, who also celebrated her 35th birthday.

He currently has five projects working on, and that's just those we know about.

Kevin had spent a rare Saturday off at his house with his wife and some friends. He posted a photo of himself jumping into a pool on Instagram along with the caption "Being home makes me happy ... enjoy your weekend people!"

On Sunday, he was in the passenger seat of his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda heading into Malibu, California, when the car crashed into a barrier and ran off the road. 28-year-old Jared Black was driving Hart and another passenger, 31-year-old Rebecca Broxterman at the time of the crash. The latter is Black's fiancee and Eniko's personal trainer.

An eyewitness who called 911 claimed to see a security guard pull Hart from the driver's side window of the wrecked car. Another 911 made from Hart's Calabasas home by an unknown female stated that the star was "not coherent at all" and could not move.

Black and his fiancee were removed from the wreckage after firemen sawed the roof of the car. Their conditions are still unclear but TMZ says Black suffered similar injuries to Kevin.
