Despite the fact that Katy Perry’s last album, Witness, wasn’t the resounding success her previous recordings had been, that doesn’t mean the pop star is headed for the poor house any time soon.
According to Cosmopolitan, Witness, which sold nearly 900,000 copies, fell far short of Prism, Perry’s previous album, which sold over four million copies. Her latest, however, did debut at number one on the Billboard 200 and reached the top position in several countries. The fact that the album didn’t have a signature single like Teenage Dream, Firework, or Roar could have impacted the less than lackluster sales figures. All in all, though, the California Gurl has sold more than 40 million albums and over 100 million singles globally, making her one of the best-selling artists of all time.
Also, Perry, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, has earned $98 million in digital single sales, taking the number one spot after Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Eminem, and her Prismatic World Tour grossed a massive $204.3 million. Her wealth has also been augmented thanks to her endorsements for H&M, CoverGirl, and Proactive, as well as her line of perfumes and real estate investments.
The 33-year-old singer will also earn $25 million for her gig on American Idol, much more than her fellow judges, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. Perry is currently ranked #95 on Forbes’ list of wealthiest celebrities with a net worth of almost $300 million.
The songstress, who has recently reunited with her ex and nude paddleboarding enthusiast Orlando Bloom, 41, is currently embarked on the Witness Tour, which is scheduled to conclude on August 21, 2018, in Auckland, New Zealand. The tour has been the third best-selling female tour in the United Kingdom in 2018, and placed at #77 on Pollstar's Top 100 Worldwide Tours last year, grossing an estimated $28.1 million.
After ABC announced in May that the American Idol revival will return for another season in the fall, and Perry will once again sit in the judge's chair next to Richie and Bryan.
