Fergie tried a little something different when she sang the National Anthem at the NBA All-Star Game but not everyone was feeling it.

The Internet exploded after The Black Eyed Peas singer sang a slow, bluesy rendition of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ on Sunday night at the Staples Center. It was quite the interesting way to kick off the 67th edition of the NBA’s annual showcase.

People were not happy on social media or in the arena when Fergie was finished singing. In fact commentators for the big game, Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal were quick to talk about what they had just witnessed.

“Oh, stop, don’t do that. Leave my Fergie alone. Fergie, I love you. It was different, it was sexy,” shared O’Neal.

His commenter partner was quick to echo how different the version was, as opposed to the standard song.

“Damn right it was different. I needed a cigarette after that,” said Barkley.

Other celebrities flocked to social media to express their thoughts on Fergie singing the National Anthem. Most people were not happy with her rendition of the song.

“Who saw Fergie's national anthem performance at the NBA All Star Game? I think mine was better lowkey,” Tweeted comedian Roseanne Barr.

“This All Star opening is confusing me. WTF is going on? Anyone?” shared reality star, Khloé Kardashian.

“Fergie’s rendition of the National Anthem was originally written by Francis Scott Out of Key,” wrote Fuller House star Bob Saget.

The dislike of Fergie’s National Anthem was so strong; the singer actually gave a statement to TMZ about her performance on Monday.

“I've always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA. I'm a risk taker artistically, but clearly, this rendition didn't strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best,” she said.

It was definitely not the best performance of her life but Fergie has many people in her corner supporting her, including ex-husband Josh Duhamel. He was spotted bringing the singer some flowers and a card after her performance.
