Grace VanderWaal dropped a new single, an empowering rendition of "I Can See Clearly".

Grace VanderWaal has a natural charm that is infectious. She received much public acclaim when she appeared on America’s Got Talent in 2016 and won the golden buzzer for her performance of her original song "I Don’t Know My Name," which she sang while playing the ukulele. The YouTube video of her performance has over 80 million views. She was twelve. When Howie Mandel, who was one of the judges, asked her if she was excited to be there, she said, “It’s crazy.”

When asked by Simon if she thought she had a chance on America’s Got Talent to win, she said, “Miracles can happen, so possibly.” At that moment, everybody fell in love with her. Her talent is so refreshing and so honest that it makes everyone pay attention.

Even the normally jaded Simon Cowell was taken aback by her purity and innocence that was matched with her clear vocals and original deeply-emotional songwriting. He said, “I think you are the next Taylor Swift.” He also said he was frustrated that Mandel beat him to the golden buzzer.

All this happened during 2016. Often, we wonder what comes next for these young performers that get such enormous attention. For Grace VanderWaal, we now know. In 2017, she released the music video, So Much More Than This, which has over 13 million views and then City Song in 2018 with over five million views.

She just released a new music video called "Clearly" by Grace VanderWaal. It is her cover and reboot of the song "I Can See Clearly Now" that was performed originally by Jimmy Nash in the 1970’s.

In the music video, we see Grace looking at herself in the mirror. She is now 14 years old. Like all young girls, she is a little doubtful of her place in the world. These internal emotions are expressed so honestly in the video. She tries to put on makeup and ends up face-painting herself with lipstick. She is afraid to go out into the world, at first.

She then removes the ugly makeup and decides to go out into the sunshine outside as herself. The video is very empowering and heartfelt, already reaching about 2 million views in a matter of days. Anyone can see the deep meaning, especially about female empowerment. She is backed up by a gospel choir that sings along with her, which is amazing. If you are feeling a bit down, we highly recommend you watch the video.
