Elton John doesn't suffer fools gladly it seems. The music legend shocked fans when he stormed off stage at his Las Vegas residency show a few days ago after a fan tried to touch him.
According to The Guardian, the 'Rocket Man' hitmaker invited a selection of fans to join him around his famed piano for a rendition of "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" when he became increasingly agitated by a gentleman who continually tried to touch him. Warning, there is some profanity in the video.
In the video clip circulated online, a visibly annoyed Sir Elton storms off stage after the fan leans over the piano several times, trying to grip the singer and the keyboard. He shouts an expletive at the man before getting up and leaving the stage altogether in a fit of anger. The popular part of the singer's show sees him invite the audience up on stage to join him. Although he tried several times to continue with his performance, the over-eager individual wouldn't leave him alone. After the crowd returned to their seats, Elton returned to the stage. "No more coming on stage during 'Saturday Night'." he told the crowd before launching into "Circle of Life".
The British singer released a statement detailing his decision to exit the stage via Twitter. "A fan put his hands on the piano keys while I was playing...He proceeded to reach over the piano and try to take pictures, completely disrupting the performance. This guy was rude, disruptive and had no care or respect for our show so I let him know how I felt, then left the stage until they had removed him," said John. It's believed that the person in question was swiftly escorted out of the premises after the incident.
This comes after another excited fan threw Mardi Gras beads onto the stage last month, hitting John directly in the face while he was singing. The performance was halted while he checked his mouth and teeth, before continuing with the song.
