Dwayne Johnson Reclaims Top Celebrity Social Media Ranking

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is once again the top celebrity on social media.

From The Hollywood Reporter comes news that Dwayne Johnson has reclaimed his hop spot on the Top Actors Chart. The Rampage actor was previously bounding between second and fifth place for the past month but now once again rises to the top of the social media heap.

"The Top Actors chart is a ranking of the most popular actors on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Google Plus, with global data provided by social media analytics company MVPindex," according to THR. The ranking also uses data like how many subscribers each celeb gains/loses, as well as how many likes and how much they interact with people on social media.

The current tracking period was for the month from February 7th to March 6th.

The chart began tracking info last June, and Dwayne Johnson has consistently been in the top 10 for much of that time. Consistently appearing in movies such as Baywatch and the Jumanji sequel keep his name in the headlines, but Johnson’s consistent use of social media to not only plug his films but also have fun with his followers keep him high in the rankings.


Jennifer Lopez has also seen her social media fortunes flow upward, rising from number 4 to number 2 in the chart. Her recent posts on skipping the Oscars for helping disadvantaged urban youth have gained her some new followers along with a ton of likes from her fans.

Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman drops from 9 to 10, staying in the top rankings purely due to the continued success of the movie which has now topped $1 billion in global sales. Lupita Nyong'o, on the other hand, rises from 10 to 4 on Black Panther’s continued success and her own postings.

Finn Wolfhard made several posts over the past month that went viral, placing him at number 9 from 11, while fellow Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown dropped from the number one spot to land at 16.

Actor Will Smith has also dropped after his Australian adventures, going from 3 to 8 on the chart, while Gal Gadot gallops from 25th to 7th due to her Oscars hijinx.
