HE WASN`T ATHLETIC WHILE IN SCHOOL

Though he was in his high school's football team, he was only a second-stringer, his head wasn't in the game. Norris's childhood had no signs of him ever becoming a star while also living in a broken home. His dad worked as a mechanic and driver, and when he wasn't at work, he was out feeding his alcohol addiction.

He, on the other hand, was an average student at school with little confidence in himself. He was bullied and teased due to his mixed ethnicity of Irish and Cherokee Native American ancestry. Bullying fueled his desire to learn martial arts.

HE RETURNED THE FAVOR BY OPENING MARTIAL ARTS SCHOOLS

The karate champion opened a chain of schools that taught karate. Among his students were celebrities like Priscilla Presley, Bob Barker, Marie Osmond, and the famous Steve McQueen. Norris had at that time appeared in Way of the Dragon that was a massive success at the Hong Kong Box Office.

His breakthrough in the film industry came when one of his clients, Steve McQueen, noticed his talent and encouraged him to take up acting classes at MGM. Norris went on to take up roles in action movies that grossed millions of dollars, making him a household name.

HE HAS A LINE OF JEANS

Chuck also has an entrepreneurial side to his kicks. Tired of the restrictions encountered when doing his famous roundhouse kick, Norris brought a new design into the market. His action jeans are designed with a hidden gusset that allows greater movement.

Norris created his own martial arts system Chun Kuk Do which translates from Korean to mean, the universal way. His style is a hybrid of the Korean and American martial arts, which he developed using his Tan soo do training while in the military.

His system incorporated elements of other systems as well as his original styles and is governed and sanctioned by UFAF. Each summer, UFAF holds a training conference and the world tournament championships for Chun Kuk Do in Las Vegas.

HE HASN'T LOST A FIGHT SINCE 1968

Norris was a master of martial arts, and he made good use of his skills in competing. He competed in karate for ten years, since 1964. The first four years were not easy for him; he had a total of ten losses with two ties.

He rose from the ashes realizing 187 wins in the next six years of competing without a single loss, with his fans dubbing him the most powerful man on earth. His winnings earned him the Professional World Full-Contact Middleweight Karate Championship for six years successively.

HE ISN'T A RECORD-BREAKER AFTER ALL

Norris came out to set matters straight about his achievements stating that he discovered that there were two other American citizens with the same accomplishment to their names.

What's indisputably true is that he has a 10th-degree black belt in Tang Soo Do and an 8th-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
