Carrie Underwood is set to return to the stage after her horrific accident last year, left her needing 40 stitches in her face.
The country singer is not simply dipping her toe back into public life. She is going to make a big splash. Underwood will return to the stage this Sunday when she performs live at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
On Monday, the ACM Awards used social media to announce the American Idol alum would be among the list of performers at the event. The Tweet also shared the singer is set to sing a song that will be released soon.
For days, Underwood has been teasing fans on social media that she will be making an announcement soon. Along with posting a photo of her rehearsing with a full band, she shared a picture of herself in the studio working on her music. Based on what the ACM post, as well as all the teasing Underwood has done on social media the past few days, it is clear she has new music coming.
Carrie Underwood will return to the stage for the Academy of Country Music Awards this weekend. She fell outside her Nashville home, which she shares with husband Mike Fisher late last year. The accident left her with 40 stitches in her face, as well as a broken wrist. Her recovery has forced to take a step back, relax more and retreat out of the public eye for a few months.
The singer shared a heartfelt letter with fans on her website earlier today, talking about her progress. Underwood made it clear she was physically about 90 percent. Her face may look a little different she warned. Also, her wrist was not completely healed but doctors expect it to be fully recovered in time.
“I definitely feel more like myself than I have in a while,” Underwood revealed.
There are always amazing performances at the ACM Awards. However, this year all eyes will be on Carrie Underwood as she takes the stage for the first time since her terrible accident last November. Oh, and it looks like she will be playing a brand new song which is music to our ears!
