Amazon breaks holiday sales record again in 2018! According to CNet, more items were ordered worldwide than ever before. Amazon has managed to break its very own record from last holiday season, where it sold the most it has ever back in 2017, however, 2018 seems to be the year where Amazon is truly surpassing its own goals.
According to CNet, as of this past Wednesday, December 26, 2018, customers around the world ordered more items from the multi-billion dollar company this holiday shopping season than ever before. According to Amazon, the company has shipped more than a billion times during the holiday season in the United States alone using their Prime service, which allows users to have items delivered the very next day.
Due to this immense amount of buying, the company has exceeded their Prime account expectations, where tens of millions signed up for the Prime subscription year-round or the Prime trail for the holiday. This is a huge step up from the 4 million Prime subscriptions the company received during the “one week” last year! In addition to the huge amount of shipments, Prime subscriptions, and record-breaking sales, the company has also sold more of its own devices than ever before.
The company noted that they sold more Amazon Devices, including the Amazon Echo, Fire, and Kindle products than any other year. According to Amazon, the Echo Dot, which if the entry-level Alexa speaker found itself at the top of the list of best-selling products across categories. More and more consumers are purchasing the Echo Dot, and according to the massively successful company, Alexa set more than 100 million timers, gave out three times as many recipes than in years past, and behold, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, remained the most played song during the holiday season via Alexa for the third year in a row.
Amazon is truly breaking barriers, and we are not surprised in the slightest. The company continued to exceed its own expectations, and have had the most success this year alone than any other company in the world. Major props to Amazon, a company that truly deserves every bit of success it’s getting!
