Margot Robbie has certainly hit Hollywood with a bang over the last couple of years. The Australian actress has had a very busy schedule in terms of the films she has been lined up to work in. This has without doubt changed her life from when she was first seen in front of the cameras when appearing as a character on Australia's soap opera Neighbours.
The beautiful blonde actress challenged Hollywood in order to pursue her dream of becoming a film star. It is clearly a decision worth making when you look back now. Robbie left the set of Neighbours in 2011 before jumping onto the next plane to the United States of America. In 2013 she won the role to work alongside Oscar winner Leonardo Di Caprio in the critically acclaimed Wolf of Wall Street. Her portrayal as Naomi Lapaglia won her a Best Female Newcomer at the Empire Awards in 2014.
Ever since her memorable work in Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie has never looked back after receiving roles in many films such as Suicide Squad, The Legend of Tarzan, Goodbye Christopher Robin and I, Tonya - a film currently out in the cinemas worldwide which has been receiving many positive reviews. Robbie plays the main character of Tonya Harding who was a famous figure skater at the Winter Olympics representing the USA.
The 27-year-old has many fans across the world for her work especially when she portrayed Joker's assistant Harley Quinn in the 2016 film Suicide Squad despite the film getting mixed to negative reviews. When it comes to every celebrity, the coverage from the media helps the fans not miss a thing on what they are up to. But there are a few things that you might not know about the Australian actress.
Let's take a look at 15 things you didn't know about Margot Robbie.
15 Margot is a tattoo artist
The picture above is not there to fool you, Margot Robbie can actually draw tattoos. Well sort of.
Last year Robbie revealed on The Graham Norton Show that she does draw tattoos on other people. When the story came out as a true story, one of the producers of the show took to the stage and had his big toe drawn by the very lady herself. His big toe was eventually covered by a smiley face with a little tongue coming out of its mouth.
It's fair to say Robbie can handle the pressure when carrying out a tattoo job when thousands are watching her every move. The producer was thrilled when the job was completed. Anyone can get a tattoo but not everyone can say they had a toe tattoo done by a celebrity like Margot Robbie. Priceless.
14 Margot is not a healthy eater
Let's all be honest with each other, a world without sugar and delicious food such as burgers, hot dogs, ice cream and Coca-Cola would just not be the same. How would we cope with our everyday life by just eating fruits and vegetables?
Well, Margot Robbie would certainly be one of those that would not cope. Despite her figure and body shape, that many would wish for, it all does not come down to healthy eating. Crazy isn't it?
Robbie has been asked about what diet she follows but admitted to the press that she does not follow any particular diet. Robbie just eats whatever she wants to eat. If only we could all do that and not take any consequences.
13 Margot needed help for wolf of wall street
For many of us, heading into work with a hangover from the night before is everyone's nightmare start to the day. That feeling of dragging yourself out of bed early in the morning with an annoying headache from your party the night before is the worst thing.
During the filming of Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie drank on the set to get through a rather revealing scene. If you have seen the film you most likely remember Robbie being completely naked.
As expected for many actors/actresses, Robbie was very nervous before taking on the scene. A crew member suggested taking a bit of tequila before shooting and Robbie took the advice and drank three shots of tequila which helped her feel more comfortable and confident.
12 Margot loves ice hockey
Who doesn't love a bit of ice hockey? Margot Robbie loves the sport more than just a bit. As you can see in the picture provided above, Robbie is wearing the colours of the New York Rangers' home jersey as she watches on and shows her support to the team in blue.
Robbie once revealed that she wanted to give ice hockey a go when she was living in Australia but with it being a country known to consistent high temperatures all year round, that dream was already shattered before it even started. The actress had to go with field hockey instead. Was Robbie good at hockey? Her career choice must be the answer to that question.
Robbie also plays for an amateur team when she is not working in front of the cameras. Her position is playing on the right wing but has admitted that she needs to work more on her ice skating.
11 Margot dislikes Harley Quinn
Probably a fact that is very hard to believe when Margot Robbie absolutely nailed the role as Harley Quinn in the 2016 film Suicide Squad.
Many actors/actresses have to take up as many roles as they can and will most likely select any character to play to make ends meet and keep their dreams alive. But for a world class actress like Robbie, she certainly hid her feelings on the villainous character of Harley Quinn when being on set.
Harley Quinn is a psychopath along with her lover the Joker which was the main reason why Robbie did not enjoy representing a character that wants to break laws and do bad things to innocent people.
Suicide Squad, which also starred Jared Leto and Will Smith, was not exactly Detective Comics' (DC) finest movie. The movie received many negative reviews when it was released in the summer of 2016 even though it generated more than $745 million against the spending of $175 million.
10 Margot's grandparents never watched Wolf of Wall Street
It is rather known that when it comes to actors and actresses taking on roles that includes undressing for scenes, they reveal in interviews that their relatives refuse to watch their work. In Robbie's case her grandparents never took up the opportunity to watch their granddaughter in Wolf of Wall Street.
The 2013 film was a career changing moment for the Australian which has helped her take on big acting roles ever since. But no matter how highly rated the film was, her grandparents never wanted to witness the more revealing scenes of their granddaughter. Robbie's mother however had no problems with her daughter's scene.
Maybe someone should tell Robbie's grandparents which minutes into the movie the naughty scenes are in - in order to avoid it.
9 Margot attended circus school
Circus school, a perfect educational place for an actress like Margot Robbie who would eventually play a role as Harley Quinn working alongside Jared Leto's Joker. It may have even taught Robbie a couple of circus tricks when filming Suicide Squad.
When Robbie was eight years old her mother enrolled her into a circus school, and it was there that she took on a trapeze program. Trapeze is all about balancing in the air with just a couple of ropes. After taking the classes, Robbie achieved a trapeze certificate and that skill was quite useful in the Suicide Squad scene when Harley Quinn is hanging under the bars of a prison cell.
8 Margot acted in soaps before working in films
In most career jobs, you have to start at the bottom in order to work your way up to the very top. In the acting industry, for someone like Margot Robbie, she did just that. She started her career by portraying Donna Freedman in Australian soap Neighbours. Robbie worked on Neighbours for three years between 2008 and 2011. Her first appearance was in June 2008 and the final appearance of Donna Freedman in January 2011.
When Robbie auditioned for the role of Freedman, she thought it went really badly and decided to go on holiday in Canada. Her vacation was cancelled after two days, after she found out the role was given to her.
Robbie's reasoning for leaving her role as Freedman was to move to Hollywood in an attempt to grab herself a film role, which was a decision that we all know has gone very well for the Australian actress.
7 Margot was close to being in a Marvel movie
That's right, Robbie was very close to working on a Marvel movie. After many discovered Robbie in Wolf of Wall Street she received endless offers to be on the next handful of projects of upcoming films. Sadly for the casters, there's only so many films that the likes of Robbie can handle at once.
Even after Robbie played Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, she received many offers to play a number of comic book characters. One of the biggest roles she was offered was to play Sue Storm in the 2015 version of Fantastic Four before the job was taken by Kate Mara.
6 Margot slapped Di Caprio in auditions - it wasn't in the script
For anyone new to an industry where you aim to make a name for yourself, the one thing for that to happen is to be someone that stands out from the crowd. A lot of people want to be the next Meryl Streep or the next Tom Hanks in the film industry but only a few make that dream come true.
That scenario fits in with what Margot Robbie had to do to win a role in Wolf of Wall Street. During the auditions stage, Robbie had to play a scene with Leonardo Di Caprio which resulted in Robbie slapping the actor across the face. That was never written in the script. And for that, Robbie was given the role of Naomi Lapaglia.
Robbie immediately in her mind had second thoughts on what she had just done to Di Caprio but apparently director Martin Scorsese and Di Caprio burst out laughing moments later.
Talk about having the guts to slapping a Hollywood actor in the face.
5 Margot turned down a lot of money for a PlayBoy shoot
Hugh Hefner and his PlayBoy empire have been known over the last few decades for offering a large sum of money to female celebrities for them to take their clothes off in front of a camera.
Robbie is one example where Hefner did not get his wish. After Margot's famous scene with Leonardo Di Caprio in Wolf of Wall Street, she was approached by Hefner to model for PlayBoy magazine. It is believed the PlayBoy founder was offering a lot of money to the Australian if she were take up the job.
But Robbie was moral minded and rejected the offer from Hefner. Robbie said that she only gets it all out for the purpose of being artistic in her profession and never had any intentions to reveal her body for the front cover of magazines.
Asked if she was shy of showing her body to the public she responded by stating that she was not shy and embraces that she is young and beautiful.
4 Margot has beaten big names to her acting roles
When you think of big film titles such as Jurassic Park and Star Wars many would think the big films will only employ the big actors and actresses. Not in Margot's case. The Australian has beaten many well known actors/actresses to a number of roles over the last few years.
One great example was when Robbie won the role to play Jane Porter in The Legend of Tarzan. This denied the likes of Oscar winning actress Emma Stone and Jessica Chastain from being offered the job. She also beat Amber Heard, Teresa Palmer, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Blake Lively for the role of Naomi Lapaglia in Wolf of Wall Street. A performance that no doubt changed Robbie's acting career.
If you were really going to look at Robbie's form at getting film acting roles, she apparently was frustrated when not winning the race to get Susan Storm in the 2015 version of Fantastic Four. That was instead given to Kate Mara.
But this is an actress that was literally given the role to play Harley Quinn on a plate.
3 Margot loves to dress up
Throughout the careers of a number of actors and actresses, they have to try out different outfits while working behind the scenes. For many, dressing up is just a routine part of their job. Some may like or dislike it but it's something they have to accept as part of their job.
Margot Robbie however loves dressing up in her free time. One time Robbie was spotted dressed up as a James Franco's character in Spring Breakers in 2012. Robbie is clearly showing to her fans and the media that she likes to have fun when not acting on set.
It is also clear Robbie had no problems dressing up as Harley Quinn when working on Suicide Squad as one of her biggest acting dreams is to play a superhero character. For sure a good excuse to dress up.
Hopefully James Franco was impressed by Robbie's version of dressing up as Spring Breakers' Alien.
2 Margot is a big Fulham fan
We already know Margot Robbie enjoys her hockey by playing for an amateur team at right wing position and supporting the New York Rangers. But you also probably didn't know that she is also a fan of English football club Fulham FC.
Robbie visited Craven Cottage, the home football ground of Fulham FC, back in August 2014 to watch them play Millwall in a London derby. She wore Fulham's black and white colours by wearing a scarf but she did not bring any luck to the team as they lost 1-0 to Millwall that day.
Other celebrities such as actors Hugh Grant and Keith Allen are also Fulham supporters.
Robbie has never expressed her reasonings for supporting Fulham especially since they are not an Australian football club and as far as we all know, the actress has no connections to the London club. But we are sure Fulham supporters that are also fans of Margot Robbie enjoyed her visit to Craven Cottage.
1 Margot and Christina Ricci were flat mates
This is no word of a lie, Margot Robbie and Christina Ricci used to be flat mates.
Both Robbie and Ricci worked together on set in the TV series Pan Am. Their characters were required to wear stewardess uniforms with super tight girdles underneath. Apparently every day on set, Robbie would have to help Ricci get into her very tight outfit.
Both actresses worked together on Pan Am between 2011 and 2012 until the comedy show was cancelled from TV network ABC, even though the show was doing very well.
Ricci has been working as an actress ever since her childhood when she played Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family and its sequel Addams Family Values.
Robbie and Ricci are no longer room mates since the cancellation of Pan Am sent them in different acting directions. It is believed that Robbie now lives in London with some of her closest friends.
