Since Shameless debuted in 2011, it has quickly risen to the top of our "favorite shows" list. The quirky comedy keeps us entertained and shocked, and we have absolutely fallen in love with the dysfunctional Gallagher family headed by patriarch Frank, played by William H. Macy. The Showtime hit has proven to be a massive success, regularly drawing in close to 2 million viewers per episode. Season 8 wrapped up last month, and a ninth season has been confirmed by the network. Good news for Shameless fans all around — there doesn't seem to be an end in sight for our guilty pleasure!
The Gallaghers certainly have had their fair share of shameful moments, but sometimes, the embarrassment follows the actors into their real lives. Due to their mass success, the cast is regularly photographed and followed by the paparazzi, leaving them vulnerable to embarrassing exposure. There are certainly moments that the cast don't want the Internet to get a hold of, but naturally, that is the nature of things. There is a huge audience that is ready to devour all things embarrassing, shameful or downright horrifying.
We have scoured the Internet and put together a compilation of photos that the Gallaghers definitely don't want you to see. Here are 20 Photos That The Cast Of Shameless Want Deleted From The Internet.
15 Justin Chatwin Did Good By Cutting His Hair
Justin Chatwin, who played Fiona's compulsively lying boyfriend Steve/Jimmy, is almost unrecognizable in this old-school photo. A hair cut was definitely a good idea. Justin didn't make it past season 3 of Shameless (with a reappearance in season 5 to wrap up his storyline), but his character left a memorable impression. As Fiona's most serious (and seriously messed up) boyfriend, he played a vital role in the Gallagher household, playing a big-brother/mentor role to many of the younger children for the early years. The Canadian actor might've left the show, but he is fondly remembered by fans and critics for his fantastic performance. Hopefully, he never goes back to this hairstyle, either!
14 Steve Howey Has Grown Into His Looks
Steve Howey, who plays our favorite next-door neighbour Kevin, has come a long way since his beardless, baby-faced days. We love him for his scruffy and rough exterior and soft teddybear interior. It's safe to say that Steve Howey grew into his looks, and adding facial hair and a man-bun only increased his appeal! Despite being 40 years old, Steve has a baby face that doesn't seem to age, which may be due to genetics or pure good luck. He has been married to actress Sarah Shahi since 2009. The couple have three children together, including a set of twins. All three of their children were delivered via home births.
13 Jeremy Allen White Looks A Little Frazzled
Jeremy Allen White might have more in common with his character, Lip Gallagher, than we would think. Like Lip, Jeremy is a pretty big party animal who likes to stay out late in bars and clubs with his real life girlfriend, Emma Greenwell, who most of you know as the show's "second Mandy." The on- and off-screen couple have actually been dating since they were pretty much cast together and have been inseparable ever since. Although they have dated seriously for over 7 years, they are planning on waiting before rushing into marriage, as they both want to enjoy the rest of their 20s without any marital commitments. At least they go out together! Most of the pair's sightings happen in NYC or London, where Emma calls home.
12 Noel Fisher Left His Blonde Locks Behind
Noel Fisher, who played Mickey Milkovitch for several seasons, shocked fans when he stepped out with bleached blonde hair. The Canadian-born actor went blonde to play the role of vampire Vladimir in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part II, and it certainly is a major contrast to his signature black locks. Shortly after wrapping up the 2012 film, he went back to his more natural shade and resumed his role as Mickey. Noel had a big year in 2017, he married his long-time girlfriend, former actress, Layla Alizada. The couple had dated for 12 years before tying the knot, having met on the set of the television series Godiva in 2005.
11 Ethan Cutkosky Is Barely Legal
Ethan Cutkosky, who plays little brother Carl on Shameless, might feel like an adult, but not too long ago, he was still just a little kid. Having spent all of his tween years filming, he grew up fast and hard, being introduced to some pretty heavy subject matters at a young age. Drinking, smoking, swearing, and family dysfunction are just some of the recurring themes in Shameless, and it's no surprise that Ethan got himself into some trouble off-set. Recently arrested for a DUI, Ethan is reportedly a big party animal who spends a lot of time in clubs and bars with his girlfriend. Despite his brush with the law, co-star William H. Macy swears that he is a really well-rounded kid who happened to make a bad choice.
10 Joan Cusack Has Always Been Quirky
Joan Cusack might not be part of the Shameless family anymore, but her character goes down in the books as one of the most quirky and entertaining. As Sheila Jackson, Cusack embodied a severely anxious, agoraphobic mother who struggled with mental health issues. Her performance earned her several awards, including a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series in 2015. The 55-year-old actress' acting career has spanned some 30 years, and she is nowhere near slowing down. Joan is continuing to appear in small television and film roles, although she is taking more time to relax with her family on the side.
9 Emma Greenwell Channels Her Inner Mandy
Emma Greenwell might have enjoyed success as a model, but she has been spotted wearing some pretty questionable outfits while in public. This sparkly mini-dress in the middle of the day screams "I haven't gone home since last night," and seems like something that her character, Mandy, might wear. Emma was born in the United States, but her parents moved back to the U.K. when she was young, so she calls London home, and still spends most of her time there. Her long-time boyfriend, Jeremy Allen White, travels between Hollywood, Chicago, and London to spend time with her.
8 Zach McGowan Wasn't Always Warrior Chic
Like costar Steve Howey, Zach McGowan, who played Jody Silverman on Shameless, took some time to find his signature look. Back in the day, he was a clean-shaven, short-haired actor. Who knew that growing out his hair and adopting a more scruffy look would completely turn his career around? Not only did he land his breakthrough role in Shameless in 2012, he went on to be a lead cast member in the popular series' Black Sails and The 100. Zach's definitely not suffering from lack of work — his signature warrior look has attracted him lots of attention in the past few years. We're sure that he'll pop up in a bunch of movies in the coming years.
7 Cameron Monaghan Has Been In The Industry For Years
Cameron Monaghan is only 24 years old, but he's been acting and modelling since he was just a toddler. His first jobs included posing for mail-order catalogs and he appeared in several televised commercials when he was in elementary school. Fast forward a decade and Cameron landed his career role as Ian in Shameless. His performance has gained critical acclaim, particularly his ability to portray a gay teen struggling with mental health issues. Ian is definitely one of our favorite characters, and one that has seen the biggest transformation over the years. Can't wait to see what's in store for our ginger in season 9!
6 Emmy Rossum Wants The World To Forget Her First Husband
Emmy Rossum might be happily married to hubby Sam Esmail, but before finding her true love, she had a few stumbles in the romance department. In 2008, she married music executive Justin Siegel, although the couple never publicly announced their marriage, and didn't give any information about their relationship in interviews with the media. Perhaps the reason behind the secrecy had to do with marital problems that struck them early on. After less than a year and a half of marriage, Justin filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce was finalized in 2010. In 2013, Emmy began dating Sam Esmail, whom she became engaged to in 2015, and married last year. So far, the couple seem to be doing very well!
5 Emma Kenney Is Still Working Out Her Personal Style
Emma Kenney, who plays loveable little sister Deb on Shameless, might be all grown up now, but her style is still a work in progress. As one of the youngest cast members on the show, Emma virtually grew up on set and has blossomed from an awkward little girl to a hip young mom. In real life, Emma seems to be playing with her style, too. Daring outfits and experimental makeup have been a newfound passion; she is definitely not one to shy away from trying new things! At just 18 years old, her career is flourishing. She has recently been cast in a Roseanne revival as Darlene and David's daughter, some twenty years after the original series aired. The first season should be released later this year.
4 Emily Bergl Had A Brief Leading Role On Shameless
Who could forget Samantha, Frank's long-lost daughter who came back to haunt him towards the end of season 4? Frank tracked her down in hopes that she would be a suitable organ donor match when he needed a liver transplant, but the relationship soon became overshadowed by mutual blackmail and major dishonesty. Actress Emily Bergl is no stranger to television roles, she has starred in several series, including Southland, Grey's Anatomy, The Good Wife and Law & Order. And lets not forget that she was the red-headed Francie in Gilmore Girls who used to bully Rory! She has been nominated for several Saturn Awards for her performances over the years, in both television and film. The 42-year-old hails from Buckinghamshire, England.
3 Laura Slade Wiggins Is Long Forgotten
Laura Slade Wiggins played Karen, Sheila's over-protected daughter. She appeared for a few seasons when the strange neighbours to the Gallaghers were a big part of the plot. Laura has continued to act, but her real passion is music. She has been performing solo sets in bars and nightclubs for years and even released a self-recorded demo recently. Her biggest film role to date was in The Ring series chapter, Rings, which was released in early 2017. The 29-year-old continues to act in small television and film roles, all the while putting her musical career first.
2 Shanola Hampton Sometimes Has A Bad Hair Day
Shanola Hampton basically always looks good, so it's hard to find any photos of her looking less than perfect. She is guilty of some pretty bad hairstyle choices, however! Our favorite neighbour on Shameless, Veronica, has consistently played the role of confidante, friend, and babysitter to Fiona and the Gallaghers, all the while juggling her own man-baby husband and children, and managing a business. She's pretty well the queen of all trades, and a character that we wish we knew in real life! She might draw inspiration for her character from her real life — she has been married to husband Darren for 18 years, and the couple have two children of their own.
1 William H. Macy Hits The Beach
Most people don't enjoy being photographed in their beach wear, and Shameless star William H. Macy is no exception. The paparazzi managed to snap some photos of him at the beach while he was vacationing with his family a few years ago. Despite looking great for his age, there are definitely more flattering outfits we can envision him in! Although William regularly makes a fool of himself while playing his character, Frank, his real-life personality is much more subdued and private. In fact, William is not even a drinker. He has said that alcohol affects him very quickly because of his small stature, and he doesn't like the feeling of being out of control. William and Frank are really total opposites!
