Most work places will give a person a small token gift when they move on to another opportunity. Sometimes it’s donuts and coffee with co-workers in the break room, other times it’s a nice meal out with your team, or a keepsake gift, like a new business card case, or in the case of retirement the cliché gold watch.

In Hollywood stars come into their jobs or projects knowing there is going to be an end date. Most Hollywood films take around 45 to 60 intense days to shoot, with six months to a year of post-production time. Those who work on a television show, spend about one week per episode filming (more so if the show is a lengthier drama), and many become families of sorts, spending many years in the company of fellow actors and members of the production team.

When Hollywood projects come to a wrap it is customary to provide wrap gifts or keepsakes as a special thank you to the main players in the production. Sometimes the gift is a small funny token or memento, other times it’s an epically expensive one that even the rich and famous are going to pause for. These are 15 celebrity wrap gifts that fall into the categories of expensive, quirky, and downright unforgettable.

The Gift of Time

Sometimes a project just isn’t working well and you need to call in outsiders to give it that special something it’s missing. Chris Rock knew that one of his movies wasn’t going to cut it and called in fellow comedians and friends Tina Fey and Louis C.K. to help him with the rewrite.

When they were done their edits, Rock decided to show his appreciation. He sent both of his colleagues customized Rolex watches. Each watch had a special inscription and was engraved with a message of “Thanks, mother&*$#er”. The cheaper end Rolex watches start at 5K to 10K a piece, but we’re guessing that Rock wasn’t bargain shopping when he was looking for the perfect way to say thank you.

It Wasn’t About the Shoes For Sarah Jessica Parker

New York City’s own Carrie Bradshaw was all about the shoes. It turns out Sarah Jessica Parker cared more about Carrie’s wardrobe than she did about the Manolos. When S*x and the City wrapped SJP kept 95 percent of the clothing in Carrie’s wardrobe.

The clothing is kept safely in storage and not worn by SJP since she considers it memorabilia. Perhaps this pricey memento, likely worth hundreds of thousands in designer duds that SJP doesn’t even wear, is part of the reason for the bad blood between SJP and Kim Cattrall. SJP said, “I have it all. I don't touch it or wear it, but all of that is really meaningful." Parker has also admitted, "I have the Carrie necklace still, I love it and it's tucked away somewhere safe."

Adam Sandler Drives A Hard Bargain

Not too long ago, Adam Sandler’s name attached to a film project was a guaranteed recipe for success. In 2010, he wanted to show his appreciation to his co-stars when the film Grown Ups scored big at the box office, bringing in 271.4 million US Dollars. Sandler wanted to show his co-stars just how much their work on the project meant to him and gifted Chris Rock, David Spare, Rob Schneider, and Kevin James Maseratis worth $200K-$250K a piece.

During an interview on The Howard Stern Show, David Spade spoke to the extravagant gift from Sandler and said, “I went outside the other day and I had a new Maserati in the driveway.”

Jerry Seinfeld, A Gift About Nothing

Jerry Seinfeld went from unknown to household name over the course of the nine series the show ran. The main cast set records for money made per episode, so giving them a perfect parting gift was going to be hard to do. It was Patrick Warburton, who played Elaine’s on again off again beau Puddy, who told News.com.au what Jerry Seinfeld gifted all of the cast members once they had finished filming the final episode.

Warburton said, "We all got a lovely Cartier watch that said Seinfeld underneath." While we don’t know the exact model, most of these watches range in price from hundreds to thousands of dollars, and even more thanks to the notoriety of being a Seinfeld thank you present Want to know what Seinfeld kept for himself? It was Jerry’s apartment door.

Steven Spielberg Drives Home His Appreciation

A lesser known Steven Spielberg movie was the 1989 film Always. The fantasy romance is about what happens when the spirit of a recently deceased daredevil aerial forest-fire fighter pilot (played by Richard Dreyfus) begins to mentor newbie pilot (Brad Johnson), all while watching the new pilot fall in love with the grieving girlfriend (Holly Hunter) that he left behind.

Spielberg was so fond of the cast of this movie that he gifted all of the stars brand new Mazda Miatas to thank them for their hard work on the film, not too shabby. Apparently Spielberg has good taste in cars and scripts since the 1989 Mazda Miata has been said to have single-handedly reignited the roadster revolution. The movie also starred John Goodman, and was the last film Audrey Hepburn ever acted in.

Leo’s Wrap Gift That Broke The Law

With a 100 million dollar budget, it’s really no surprise that the production company Red Granite went all out when providing a memorable wrap gift for The Wolf of Wall Street star Leonardo DiCaprio.

The company gifted DiCaprio the thoughtful gift of movie icon Marlon Brando’s Oscar, earned for his work in 1954 in On the Waterfront. Only there was a problem, Red Granite was involved in a money laundering schemes and was later investigated by the Department of Justice. This meant although Leo had a couple of years to enjoy his gifted Oscar, he had to return it to the authorities, poor Leo. Other assets that had to be returned included real estate, jewelry, and artwork of both Van Gogh and Monet.

Diamonds are A Girl’s Best Friend

The notoriety of being in a Bond movie is often gift enough for any actor, however Naomie Harris was gifted more than just an iconic role in a larger than life franchise. Harris played Eve, the secretary who became a field agent in the 2012 flick Skyfall. While the movie wasn’t Diamonds are Forever, the wrap gift might as well have been.

Film producer Barbara Broccoli had the perfect gift for the star, gifting a diamond bracelet to thank her for all of her hard work. Turns out Harris really likes her bling and flashed even more sparkle at the Rome premiere of the film in a necklace in gold with mother-of-pearl and diamonds from the Bulgari Heritage Collection, a yellow gold ring of the Bulgari High Jewellery Collection with tourmaline and diamond pave.

Rose Leslie & Cupid’s Arrow

Game of Thrones fans were exited to know that Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Rose Leslie, his on screen romantic interest Ygritte were the real deal off screen. Although Ygritte’s arc on Game of Thrones was a relatively brief one, it was definitely a memorable one, and the creators knew that they had something special.

Leslie was gifted a refurbished version of Ygritte’s bow and arrow to show just how important she was to the series. Leslie said, “They replaced the handle on the bow, replacing the grubby Wildling wrap with white leather. On one side of the handle is an emblem of a red rose, on the other was a silver placard the read, ‘Kissed by Fire’…It was absolutely beautiful.” She also got an engagement ring from her love, Kit Harington. Not too shabby!

Jason Momoa's Big Bike

Jason Momoa has been very public and very appreciative of his wrap gifts over the years. Perhaps that’s one of the reasons why people love to surprise him to get his trademark larger than life reactions.

Aquaman himself was gifted with a surprise Harley Davidson Bike as a special present to thank him for his hard work at bringing the word “super” into his superhero portrayal. Momoa said, “So grateful so thankful since the day I started working I always wanted a Harley. I saved I dreamed one day I would buy a panhead,” and excitedly captioned in his Instagram post about the gift, ““Cheeeeehhhhoooooooooi. On set In Oz. What’s in da box What’s in the box. Never ever ever been surprised like today.”

Oprah’s Big Gift

Oprah has become known for her generous nature, often gifting audiences with all of her favourite things. When the highly anticipated film A Wrinkle in Time wrapped, Oprah did not disappoint, wowing everyone with one of the most Oprah gifts ever. What could be better than a top secret party hosted by Oprah?

Oprah has said of the party plans, “I haven't been this excited since we were giving away cars!" In addition to the party to all parties, Oprah gifted something with health in mind – giving each person their own fancy Juicero Juicers. Oprah captioned on Instagram of her gifts, "The Wrap gift that keeps giving, to your Health and Happiness!" she captioned the reveal on Instagram. Thanks. @iamdougevans @juicero @jason_m_cox #wegotthejuice #Juicero"

Nora Ephron Gifted Trees

Nora Ephron was a writer, producer, and director known best known for her work on You’ve Got Mail, When Harry Met Sally, Julie and Julia, Sleepless in Seattle, she worked regularly with some of the biggest names in the business. After her passing, Tom Hanks shared something special about Ephron in an essay for Time Magazine. It turns out the Ephron had a favourite wrap gift she would give to the members of her crew.

Ephron loved giving out trees, which usually start at around a thousand dollars, with a particular fondness for fruit trees, to those she worked with. Tom Hanks wrote about Ephron, “Rita (Wilson) and I chose orange, and the fruit has been lovely, sweet and abundant, just as Nora promised – a constant and perfect reminder of the woman we loved so much.”

How I Met Your Gift Expectations

Instead of pricey gifts, upon the completion of How I Met Your Mother the cast all chose keepsake props from the show for their wrap gifts. After nine seasons the orders were in: Neil Patrick Harris kept the tabletop from the gang’s booth and Barney’s playbook, Cobie Smulders kept a piece of Robin through her Robin Sparke’s jean Jacket, while Allyson Hannigan kept the small British phone booth from the apartment.

No word on what Jason Segel kept, but creators Thomas and Bays gave Josh Radnor the blue French horn and said, “when Ted Mosby comes and asks for the blue French horn, ya give him the blue French horn.” We want to know who ended up with the yellow umbrella. While there was no cost to buy these items, with autographed cast prints going for over 1K each, we’re guessing each of these would bring in tens of thousands of dollars.

A Gift That Will Be There For You, Friends

The cast of Friends worked really well together, and this translated well both on screen and in their bank accounts. The big six made television history in 2002, when they negotiated their 1 million dollars per episode salaries together, meaning they would all get the same salary, or all of the stars would walk away from the TV cash cow of a show. So after a decade of working together, and many seasons of earning big bucks, was there really a point in giving them an expensive wrap gift? Apparently not.

In the spirit of sentiment over price tag, and equality each member of the cast and crew was given the exact same thing, a chunk of the sidewalk that sat outside of the gang’s main hang out, Central Perk.

Superfan Swag

When Netflix announced the reboot of the popular series Gilmore Girls, that was gift enough to many fans, even though the way Rory turned out and the last few words all left a bad taste in all of our mouths. While Gilmore Girls crew gifts weren’t worth thousands of dollars, super fans would fight hand over fist for these Gilmore Girls Branded gifts to call their own.

The gift pack included a sweatshirt, a beanie, and a bag. All of the items were embroidered with mention of the four seasons. Cast and crew were routinely uploading photos to social media for jealous fans to eat their hearts out. The rest of us are going to have to order our own swag on sites like Etsy.

Say Cheers To Joe Swanberg’s Wrap Gift

Thought is more important than cost when it comes to gifts – even for celebrities. Drinking Buddies was a 2013, film written and directed by Joe Swanberg about two coworkers at a brewery who go on a weekend away with their significant others and discover some hard truths. The one million dollar budget dramedy had some star power despite its small budget including Anna Kendrick, Olivia Wilde, Jason Sudeikis, Jake Johnson, and Ron Livingston.

In the spirit of the brew based film, Swanberg home brewed some beer along with Wilde and Johnson so they could thank the crew with their libations. No word on whether or not any of these Hollywood players have any future in the world of craft brewing.
