14 Times Jaden Smith Confused Us (And 2 Times He Made Sense)

Will Smith and Jaden Pinkett Smith have a unique approach to parenting, and their children, Jaden and Willow, are, at times, older than their years. They are also outspoken, narcissistic, and very opinionated; they have made a bunch of eye-rolling comments which, more often than not, make absolutely no sense and have left everyone very, very confused.

Jaden is the oldest of the two siblings, and for this list, we have chosen to focus on him, not because what his sister has said in the past offers any more clarity than his comments do, but mostly because Jaden's Twitter account is a treasure trove of pseudo-intellectual musings that are completely bizarre. When he's not giving interviews and comparing himself to world-renowned astronomers, or reflecting on the breathing of a baby or duality, he's tweeting about anything and everything else. This includes his comments on the future of an Ancient Egyptian statue, or how education is useless, which is a little ironic considering his tweets are prone to spelling and grammatical errors.

Below are a just a few times (there's been a lot) that Jaden Smith left the world annoyed, and then, surprisingly, there have been two times when he enlightened us all.

16 He Thinks He Is A Scientist

Via StyleBistro

The problem with Jaden Smith is that he often spouts pseudo-intellectual nonsense, and when he’s discussing serious topics, he takes it to the extreme. Honestly, if I could spend a day inside Smith’s mind I feel like it would be a very interesting experience, and maybe, just maybe, I would understand what the heck he was trying to say with this message.

In a GQ interview, he shared his thoughts on what it’s like being a celebrity and essentially compared himself and his younger sister, Willow Smith, to test subjects (they often do joint interviews). He said, "Me and Willow are scientists, so everything for us is a scientific test upon humanity. And luckily we're put in a position where we can affect large groups of human beings at one time." Um, okay then Jaden, thank you for this!

15 His Thoughts On Mirrors Are Mind Boggling

Via Jaden Smith Twitter

If you want to feel confused, mind blown, or just have a really good laugh, then you need to head over to Jaden Smith’s Twitter account. This is the place that he often shares the inner workings of his brain and asks questions that he has been thinking about in the hope of some enlightenment (or maybe just because he thinks what he has to say is really fascinating).

In 2013, he tweeted this gem: “How Can Mirrors Be Real If Our Eyes Aren't Real.” What the heck does this mean? How are our eyes not real? Is this a comment on society and how we function as if we are all asleep because we are like robots going about our daily routines? Maybe, but then again, even if he was saying this, it would be a bit harder to explain the mention of mirrors.

14 His Theory Of Time Is Hard To Follow

Via Soompi

We all think about life and about time, and in the bigger scheme of things, we are small and insignificant, so when Jaden Smith was asked about his theory on time, he had quite a bit to say. Warning: we have no idea what it is he was trying to say.

He told T magazine, "It’s proven that how time moves for you depends on where you are in the universe. It’s relative to beings and other places. But on the level of being here on earth, if you are aware in a moment, one second can last a year. And if you are unaware, your whole childhood, your whole life can pass by in six seconds."

Do you understand what the heck you just read? Nope, we don't either!

13 If Jaden Had His Way There Would Be No Driver’s Ed

Via HipHopDX

Learning to drive is almost like an initiation into adulthood because it affords you even more freedom. When you have your own wheels and can go wherever you want, whenever you want (if you can afford the gas, that is). I don’t know if Jaden Smith has a driver’s license, but given his comments to New York Times about driver’s ed, it would seem that he doesn’t.

According to him, you really shouldn’t be learning to drive at all (does this mean you should just take private jets everywhere, or that you just get into the car and instantly know how to drive?). He said, “You never learn anything in school. Think about how many car accidents happen every day. Driver’s ed? What’s up? I still haven’t been to driver’s ed because if everybody I know has been in an accident, I can’t see how driver’s ed is really helping them out.”

12 Jaden Says You Should Forget All About School

Via Jaden Smith Twitter

Jaden Smith is not a fan of the education system, and he shares these views every opportunity he gets, including on Twitter. During one of his more controversial and eye-rolling tweets, Smith took to Twitter to write, “If everybody in the world dropped out of school we would have a much more intelligent society.”

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have their own approach to parenting and education, and to each their own, but having their son, Jaden, sharing this opinion on a public platform can be problematic. There are a lot of impressionable young teenagers who follow him and admire him, and if he’s telling them that education is useless and won’t help them better their lives then it could encourage them to drop out. Have some of the most successful people in the world not finished school? Yes, but education is important.

11 His Thoughts On Babies Breathing In Their Stomach

Via Fashionista

Jaden Smith thinks highly of newborns and it seems that he feels they hold the secrets to life. He has previously shared a tweet about how if babies could speak, they would be the most intelligent people on the planet (or something along those lines), but he has also shared bizarre comments on their breathing. Really bizarre.

In an interview with T magazine, Smith said, "When babies are born, their soft spots bump: It has, like, a heartbeat in it. That’s because energy is coming through their body, up and down.” He added, “It’s prana energy because they still breathe through their stomach. They remember. Babies remember."

Prana energy is often referred to as “life force,” so that’s what he’s referring to there, but as for the rest? Well, no one has a clue what he’s getting at!

10 Understanding The Hemispheres Of The Brain Is Confusing

Via Perez Hilton

By this stage on this list it’s impossible not to be confused, and just when you think that nothing Jaden Smith can say from this point onwards could be as bizarre as his previous comments, it just gets worse.

In an Interview with The New York Times in 2014 (it was one of his strangest interviews), he said, "...Your mind has a duality to it. So when one thought goes into your mind, it’s not just one thought, it has to bounce off both hemispheres of the brain. When you’re thinking about something happy, you’re thinking about something sad. When you think about an apple, you also think about the opposite of an apple. It’s a tool for understanding mathematics and things with two separate realities.”

Um, there is no point trying to dissect this.

9 He Was Once A Vampire, Apparently

Via: Forum Outerspace

Whether you like Jaden Smith or not, the thing you have to admire about him is his cool sense of style. He is celebrated in the fashion world for having a unique, androgynous style and he seems to achieve his looks effortlessly.

Smith deserves the recognition he receives from the fashion world, but they probably aren’t celebrating his stint as a vampire, which allegedly saw him wearing all black and long trench coats. You can’t even make this up, Smith has really claimed to have once been a vampire.

In an interview with the French magazine, Numéro, he said, "I was only wearing black and I was hiding from the sun because I was a vampire." He later expanded on this, saying, "Now I'm not a vampire, I'm out of this phase. I open myself up to wear brighter things, to go out in daylight. I share much more mixed energy."

8 Jaden Actually Thinks He Can Be Compared To Galileo Galilei

Via Jaden Smith Instagram

Galileo Galilei was an Italian astronomer, mathematician, philosopher, and professor who is famous for his impact on the study of physics and the understanding of the universe. According to Biography, he constructed a telescope, and also supported the Copernican theory— a sun-centered solar system, rather than the outdated Earth-centered solar system. Galilei has made significant contributions to science, and it’s confusing as to why Jaden Smith would compare himself to him at all.

In an interview with GQ,  Smith compared himself to Galilei (because people think his interviews are crazy) saying, “...People think you're crazy—I feel like it's an honor, actually, for people to think I'm crazy. Because they thought Galileo was crazy, too, you know what I'm saying? I don't think I'm as revolutionary as Galileo, but I don't think I'm not as revolutionary as Galileo.”

This makes him come off as extremely obnoxious, and it’s no wonder people roll their eyes at his comments.

7 The Easiest Way To Get Over Your Sadness

Via Jaden Smith Twitter

Should anyone be taking advice from Jaden Smith? That’s a question that’s open to debate but we can probably all agree that his Twitter is filled with really odd thoughts. One of which is to comment on how if you want to feel better, all you need is a good cry.

In 2015, he wrote, “Just stare in the mirror and cry and you’ll be good.” Maybe a cry will make you feel revealed and get rid of a build-up of emotions, but why would you look into the mirror when you do this? Do you need to practice your ugly crying face to avoid looking like Kim Kardashian West?

What makes this tweet more interesting is that earlier on this list Smith claimed mirrors don’t even exist, so then why would he advise people to look in a mirror now?

6 On Having His Own Language

Via Jaden Smith Twitter

If you are a fan of Jaden Smith's, you would probably have noticed how he often makes spelling or grammatical errors with his tweets, and it seems as though he decided to address his (lack of) language skills with this tweet. On Nov. 3, 2014, he wrote, “I Don't Want You Guys To Think Because I Was Born In America That I Speak And Abide By English Grammar. I Speak Jaden, Indefinitely.”

You have to assume that this tweet is a joke and was written simply to make light of his errors, but at the same time it also comes off as pretty obnoxious because it seems as though Smith is saying he is better than everyone else, and this is the reason why he's created his very own language.

5 His Predictions For The Future Don't Sit Well With Others

Via Jaden Smith Twitter

In keeping with Jaden Smith’s odd tweets, we bring you another one from 2014, this time about the Sphinx. He tweeted, “The Head Of The Sphinx Will Fall Off In The Near Future.”

He is referring to The Great Sphinx of Giza, a limestone statue located on the west bank of the Nile, in Giza, Egypt. The statue depicts a mythical creature with the head of a human and the body of a lion. It's a statue that's associated with Ancient Egypt and is something that hordes of tourists flock to see each year. It's also a marvelous feat of architecture, considering how it was created without the use of modern-day machinery.

Needless to say, people were unimpressed with this tweet and told Smith he should go to sleep or just keep quiet about everything. Then there is also the added annoyance of Smith thinking he can predict the future.

4 He Thinks He May Build A Pyramid

Via Jaden Smith Instagram

The point above tells us that Jaden Smith has an interest in Ancient Egypt and his comments during a GQ interview also seem to reflect that. Smith claims to do a lot of stuff himself, whether that’s creating clothing or building a closet, and he told the publication, "Like, the clothes I'm wearing right now, done it on my own. I built my own bed, I built my own closet, um, I built two closets, I built four beds, I built, um, one pyramid."

Sure, it’s great that he is involved in the creation process of everything that he does, and being handy is a skill. Also, the fact that he apparently makes beds and closets makes him sound less spoiled because, despite having so much money, he is still doing this himself. But the shocking thing is that there is no way he is going to single-handedly build a pyramid, and then, there’s the question of why would he even want to?

3 Jaden Figures Not Living Is Pretty Mainstream

Via: Vulture

It’s not a pleasant thought but it’s the most natural part of life and the one thing we know will happen with certainty— we all die. But because we all die,  Jaden Smith thinks this makes it mainstream, this according to a 2012 tweet which read, “Dying Is MainStream #MONEY.” Um, what?! Let's just say that this is probably not going to be the quote of the day for anyone anytime soon.

The most confusing part of this message is that it's followed by the word money. You have to wonder if he is speaking about an economic death, or if he just chose a strange combination of words?! Although this tweet was retweeted almost 3000 times, it seems that no one really knows what Smith is talking about. Then again, that's nothing new.

2 His Thoughts On Relationships Are Real

Via: FrostSnow

A lot of what Jaden Smith says makes no sense, either that, or we are just not on the same wavelength as him and what he says goes straight over our heads. That said, over the years, he has come up with a few gems, and one of these times was when he shared his views on relationships. The tweet read, "People Think A RelationShip Makes You Whole, That It's Two 50%'s Coming Together To Make 100% When It Should Be Two 100%'s Making 200%."

The construction of his sentence is confusing, but the greater meaning is important. If you put his math aside for a minute and think about what he's trying to say, you'll realize he's commenting on how people should be with someone because they compliment them, and because they make them happy, not because they feel they need to be with them.

1 His Reminder Of How Nature Is Honest And Beautiful

Via Jaden Smith Twitter

Jaden Smith often makes headlines for the bizarre things that he says, but in a way, you have to admire him for being comfortable enough with himself to share whatever he is feeling. Sometimes, this comes across as narcissistic and it's really annoying, and other times he's branded as "crazy," but there are these rare moments when the actor actually says something that you stop and go "dang, that's deep." This is one of those times.

The tweet read, "Trees are never sad, look at them once in a while they’re quite beautiful." Sure, it's weird because it’s said in true Jaden Smith style, but if you look past the fact that he said trees are never sad, you can see that his message is actually a positive reminder to take in the beauty of nature.
