The King's Man, the third movie in the Kingsman franchise, has a new trailer and an official release date.

Hollywood has been hit hard by the COVID-19 outbreak for a number of reasons. Movie theaters have been closed around the world for three months, and studios are desperately trying to figure out new dates as well as when they can return to filming other projects. Chances are the industry will take a while to get back on its feet, even after lockdowns around the world have been lifted.

When it comes to movie theaters, which look set to reopen soon in some capacity in certain countries, there will be one big problem right off the bat. Since all release dates over the course of the last three months have been delayed until later this year or even into 2021, what are they going to show on the big screen?

There might be nothing to show, to begin with, at least not anything new, but theaters now know they have at least one new release to look forward to in September. The King's Man, a prequel to the two Kingsman: Secret Service movies, will hit theaters on September 18, 2020. A new trailer and movie poster was released for the film this week showing off its cast and plot.

As promised, The King's Man will take place during the early 1900s. It will establish the very beginnings of the world's first-ever independent secret service. The very first Kingsmen are tasked with stopping a band of heinous villains who are intent on starting a war that will make them money, but threaten the end of the world as they know it. Those villains include famous faces from that period in history, including a gnarly looking Rasputin.

Judging by the trailer, director Matthew Vaughn has done a terrific job of staying in touch with the feel of the first two movies. A tough task considering The King's Man will be set 100 years in the past. The Kingsman movies have been a terrific blend of violence and comedy which will carry over into the prequel, or at least that's how it appears at this early stage. We're now even more eager to get back into cinemas once it is safe to do so.
