Sonic The Hedgehog Returns In New Trailer With Very Notable Differences, And Fans Love It

Fan power is at its peak nowadays, which is why we're getting a new Sonic The Hedgehog and not the crappy, disproportionate one who surfaced in a trailer back in May.

Paramount probably did not expect to receive such rife backlash over the original character but ended up doing fans a solid, with director Jeff Fowler vowing to make changes to the furry, blue speedster after they dared put him on display earlier this year.

The hedgehog has returned in a brand new trailer and fans seem quite happy with the changes.

As promised, Sonic has undergone a remarkable makeover and Paramount's second try sees him return with bigger eyes and teeth, much to the delight of the wider public, who were probably confused as to why the film's creators thought he would be better off looking more human in the first place.

The character's CGI body is much shorter too, leaving him a lot more similar to the animated version fans have come to know and love.

The attempts to humanize the popular hedgehog were not appreciated and maybe Paramount would have gotten away with it had they not decided to give him a human set of teeth.

The newest trailer doesn't give much more away as it relates to the movie but we get a good look at Doctor Robotnik. And while the first one didn't really focus on Sonic's design - likely because the creators thought they'd covered all bases - this one is specifically tailored to show off the redesign.

Fowler took to Twitter to thank fans for their patience.

"Today is the DAY! Could not be more excited to share our new Sonic with you," he wrote. "THANK YOU for your patience and support. This wouldn't have been possible without the fans."

"Thank you thank you thank you!!! It looks amazing!," a Twitter user replied. "You have done me so proud! He looks perfect and this new trailer really sells the movie."

"Thank you and your team for listening to the fans and doing what no other team has done before when making a movie we are excited to see the new design and the movie as well," another wrote.

Sonic The Hedgehog will launch in theaters on February 14, 2020.
