LeBron James took to social media this week to show off what his Tune Squad uniform will look like in Space Jam: A New Legacy.
Everything in TV, movies, music, and video games that was old, is new again. By that, we mean remaster and sequel fever has gripped us all. Franchises that have long led dormant are being revived. Whether it be Ghostbusters, Jumanji, Final Fantasy, Crash Bandicoot, and so many more. So why not revive what might be the most '90s movie of all time?
We are, of course, talking about Space Jam. Anyone reading this who doesn't think Space Jam was that "'90s", we implore you to go back and watch it right now. It's currently on Netflix, so its easier to find than ever before, including when it first hit theaters back in 1996. The iconic movie is getting a sequel which is scheduled to hit theaters in 2021.
While the original movie centered around NBA star Michael Jordan, Space Jam: A New Legacy will star Jordan's 2020 equivalent, LeBron James. Little has been revealed about the movie thus far outside of its name. However, James used the Twitter account for his "empowerment brand" Uninterrupted to give those eagerly anticipating the movie a first look at the Tune Squad uniform.
As you can see in the tweet above, the uniform is a lot more colorful than the one from the original movie. It has a blue base with the Looney Tune logo taking up a lot of the room. It also says Tune Squad across the chest. The original uniform was white with blue trim, had a much smaller Looney Tunes logo, and also said Tune Squad. Those who have seen both are already hard at work on social media arguing over which one looks better.
As for when we can expect to see Space Jam: A New Legacy in theaters, it is still slated to arrive on July 16, 2021. There is still every chance the pandemic prevents that from happening, but so far so good for the long-awaited sequel. If things continue to improve, the summer of 2021 could be one of the biggest in cinematic history, and the Space Jam sequel will be a movie a lot of people will want to see.
