A new report suggests that Robery Downey Jr. will be making one final appearance as Tony Stark/Iron Man in Black Widow.
Earlier this year, casual and hardcore superhero fans alike flocked to theaters to see Avengers: Endgame. So many of us, in fact, that it went on to become the highest-grossing movie at the box office of all time. The world simply needed to know how on Earth the Avengers were going to overcome what had happened during Infinity War.
Spoiler alert! Everything turned out okay. Well, we say okay, there were naturally some casualties along the way, and one of them was pretty big. The death of Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. The hero who kicked off the MCU managed to take the infinity stones from Thanos and used them to defeat the Mad Titan. However, doing so killed him too.
All of that being said, turns out we might not have seen the last of Iron Man. According to a new report from Deadline, Stark could make one last appearance in Black Widow. Natasha Romanov is finally getting her own movie, and it takes place between Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War. That obviously means timeline-wise, Iron Man will still be alive and well.
As for in what capacity Stark might appear, well that's up to our imagination at this point in time. Romanov could seek out the help of Iron Man while she is on the run in Russia. His potential appearance could also simply be a flashback. After all, the first time we saw Stark and Romanov interact with one another was all the way back during Iron Man 2.
A few irreversible things happened during Endgame. The deaths of both Iron Man and Black Widow, and also Captain America becoming an old man. Undoing any of those things would be a slap in the face to fans, no matter how much we might want to see those characters return. However, with a prequel slated for release in May 2020, why not take the opportunity to feature Endgame's two big casualties one last time?
