Emilia Clarke Expresses Interest In Portraying Female James Bond

The 25th James Bond Film, No Time to Die has concluded filming, and many expect it to mark Daniel Craig's final portrayal of 007.

It was widely reported that Craig wouldn't appear as Bond again after Spectre was released in 2015. But the 51-year-old actor came back to continue his role for a fifth Bond film, and only time will tell if he winds up being recast - or if Craig will retain the role for another movie.

There are also plenty of rumors that the 007 role will be handed over to a female. This is something that Pierce Brosnan hopes to see. He portrayed Bond in four films: GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999) and Die Another Day (2002).

Well, if a woman winds up being cast as the next Bond, Game of Thrones and Me Before You star Emilia Clarke is more than interested in taking over as 007. She expressed interest after being asked about the topic in an interview with Empire.

"Yeah! Of course! Hell to the yeah," Clarke said. "James Bond is one of those franchises where it’s never not cool. You could literally make the naffest James Bond in the world and it would still be cool."

It was previously reported that No Time to Die director Cary Joji Fukunaga shot three different endings for the movie. That suggests that even Craig himself doesn't know if his character will be killed off or not.

There have been plenty of big-named stars linked to the role of Bond. This includes Richard Madden, who's listed as the betting favorite by Coral at 1/2. Game of Thrones co-star Sean Bean believes Madden would be an excellent Bond, too.

Aside from Madden, Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba have also been mentioned as possible candidates to take over as 007. For now, everything is pure speculation, and we most certainly won't get an idea as to who will portray Bond in the franchise's 26th film until No Time to Die hits the big screens.
