The Black Adam movie has been taken off the Warner Bros. release calendar, with the film delayed indefinitely yet again, according to Variety.

Black Adam, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, has been in development since 2014, and plans were talked up as far back as 2007. However, production has been hit with various delays at different points in time.

Johnson gave DC fans lots to be excited about when he vowed Black Adam would release in 2021 - the movie was officially slated for a December 2021 launch - yet it appears we won't be seeing this one on the big screen for some time yet.

WB made a number of release date changes this week, with The Batman getting its launch date pushed back. Shazam 2, Fury of the Gods, and The Flash have also been postponed. That's more than we could say for Black Adam, though, as it's been taken off the calendar with no word on when it might be back, despite The Rock hyping it up on social media for several months.

Johnson also hinted the movie would have outlined the character's entire life up to his current status in the DCEU, with Black Adam starting out as a slave before going supervillain and then earning redemption as an anti-hero of sorts.

The former WWE superstar was the only person publicly involved in development as it pertains to the film for some time. But, earlier this year, Jaune Collet-Serra, director of Jungle Cruise was reined in. Good Trouble's Noah Centineo was also confirmed for the role of Atom Smasher.

Leverage's Aldis Hodge has since been cast as JSA leader Hawkman while other top association members such as Doctor Fate have also been promised. It seemed like everything going in the right direction, yet WB has again pushed the movie's release back, despite having arguably the biggest actor in Hollywood as part of its cast.
